If they still love it, we keep doing it.” I use to believe Lorenzo Di Bonaventure was behind the idea of not planning for future films. After all this time it's been the whole team actually. That still wouldn't be an excuse for continuity errors throughout the franchise.
Exactly I'm curious if continuity errors are also due to car companies wanting their cars in a movie, Hasbro pressuring Bay and his team to sell new characters or the pressure of constantly adapting to a fit cultures from across the world. If that's the case, It may very well be a pain in the ass to make these films.
Yeah no. Characters appearing and dissapearing like Jolt isn't such an issue compared the films that recycle plot structure, style, and general events. Everyone of these movies is made up as they get to it, and because of that there is no consistancy and it's very episodic. The worsen things, every "episode" is the same thing, and in doing the same plot over and over you struggle with continuity. Every movie it's about how Cybertronians have been here forever and they left some Mcguffin of whatever, and thats fine for one movie. But when you get to five the timeline of events becomes conveluted and Megatron's "Grand Scheme" was retconned twice. And of course to add dazzel salt on there, no movie tried to explain as to why these events may have happened and the Earth-bound Cybertronians never knew of each other. Like the fact Soundwave has been on Earth since the 60's, and never though to track down Megatron, steal the Allspark, and use the pillars without Sentinel. Soundwave alone could have conquered Earth at any given point, but the reason as to why he, or anybody else like Jetfire hasn't done such things isn't included. Also, Bumblebee, Hot Rod, and the Tank guy have been here since the 40's. It took them 70 years to track down the Allspark, and apperently only Bee did because he was in the first movie. Hot Rod just stayed in France with Hopkin's character, never thinking to join Optimus or to tell him that the Knights of Cybertron existed? (We know Roddy works for Hopkin's.) Did Bee never think to ask his brother to help save the entire planet he was on as well as his own species? The Autobots knew nothing of the Allspark's origin, and waged a wols war over it, yet they apperently knew that 65 million years ago some "Creators" killed the Dinosaurs and used Seeds to create Cybertronians. They knew that, yet not about the Primes on Earth, which happened 40,000 years ago? Meanwhile over at Marvel Fiege runs the whole MCU and they release 3 movies a year.. There is no excuse for the writing of these movies, none what so ever. It's laziness and their incompetent. If a 19 year old on the internet can keep better track of their continuity and plot then a hired team or professionals then they seriously suck at their job.
It's the childish humour and horrible robot designs that irk me with these movies. Though after the last 2 movies you can add bad voice acting. The Wreckers, Brains, Drift, Crosshairs and Lockdown all sounded shit. Never has a franchise paid so little attention to the source material. If Superman had a spikey outfit and cut someone's face off, there'd be uproar. The first movie, despite certain designs was good and genuinely funny. Every movie since has been just been silly. Alien robots with Samurai armour, facial hair and buck teeth? As a kid I'd have thought that was childish and stupid. Oh how I wish Marvel still had the rights to Transformers and GI Joe.
Yeah this doesn't really fill me with confidence that these people really are the ones to lead the 'next big thing' to rival the MCU. That used to be you and your opinion of Disney films, for the record. Not even that. Superman killed Zod by snapping his neck in Man of Steel which caused a massive uproar as fans said it was out of character.
