His robot mode model looks just like the deluxe toy rather than the cgi model, which is odd, unless his deluxe is a really accurate interpretation of earlier concept art.

That is strange. Makes more disappointment they dropped the ball on the Deluxe, though one can easily deduce Simba Smoby probably has the Mustang license. These look to be almost Tomica based, as in the doors look like they open (except on Prime's and BB's). Too bad these don't look to be available stateside

His Simba Smoby model seems to be based off of his deluxe class toy. Even in his concept art that was revealed last summer, the front of his vehicle mode is more deformed on his chest. Gotta say, though, they have really dropped the ball on his Simba Smoby toy and his deluxe class figure.

 

I'm thinking Hasbro and Simba Smoby never actually received the final concept art for Barricade. What we're seeing in these figures is his initial look before the Saleen car had been made.

That is possible. The same thing seemed to happen with Age of Extinction. All of the AOE merchandise appeared to be based off of earlier pieces of concept art rather than the final look of the Transformers. Gotta be honest though, I'm still disappointed. The Saleen 302 Mustang is a beautiful car and I was really hoping to get a good representation of it with Barricades deluxe figure.

 

These look decent as far as sculpt goes but I'm not a fan of the faction symbols on the wheels of the die-cast cars. Ruins the realism of the alt modes for me. These offerings almost captured the coolness of the original movie RPM line too but misses the mark, which is a shame.

 

Different thing all together. Hasbro did those if im not mistaken. And that was more then 5 years ago (i know it seems less but nope)  

I'm not sure you guys would say that when this is Michael Bay movie, he CONSTANTLY changes the designs as they go, so wave 1 toys can always possibly be slightly off. Plus Barricade is a SOLID toy and they could of given us shitty toys like they have for the past 2 years (I don't mean design, the designs have been great through TR RiD I'm talking build quality) and it's DEFINITELY looks like Barricades new form so saying your disappointed Is moot, imo. We haven't seen the movie and the toy could be a shitty toy. It's not.  

 

No but see, that IS the very thing that bugs me. Barricade looks like such a great and fun figure, but speaking as a guy who must have the "auto" in his bots, I can't justify buying a realistic Transformer that falls short at the disguise scheme. I get that they had to change his car up to circumvent copyright, but they've done this in the past with much more panache (see ROTF Sideways for example). So the toy can be as fun as possible and still disappoint in other fields (speaking as the owner of AOE Crosshairs, a figure that I love but hate appearance-wise, as we know he was designed based on earlier concept art and not the final draft)

Trust me, I went to the lengths of trying to find a plastic 2015 Mustang in scale JUST so I could buy this beast and reshell him to accuracy. Alas, my quest has ended in failure so far

But you enjoy the figure, and more power to you   I respect your opinion

#2 - It says there is gonna be a Diecast robot Optimus Prime as well as a Bumblebee too. So that's cool.

Well you definitely got a good head on your shoulders about the situation and much reason and dialog to back it up. I can respect that.

I think I was mostly just getting at the fact I don't think the toy designers know fully what the characters *PROBABLY* gonna look like (because of all the changes Bay & co. do) but I hear ya on non accuracy!

if I'm buying Masterpiece, I feel that way. I'll definitely bitch about non accurate parts (to a extent, MPM-04 I consider 100% accurate imo/but MP-10 G1, isn't even close in most parts imo)  

 

1. Can't comment on this one with full assurance. I think we only know BB and Grimlock to be the only ones existing at this moment. But I could direct your attention over to a smaller more complete fleet   These have an underbody glow gimmick going for them, so I wonder if the TLK diecasts will have any features

what I REALLY wanna see I'd a 1/32nd scale line Like the Fast and Furious 1/32nd line up (those are so cool!) But wit opening doors and to have a in scale Optimus Prime!

 

Barricade is a good figure. I've enjoyed him immensely and he's my favorite figure of the wave 1 toys. My only problem is his vehicle mode. His vehicle mode looks nothing like this: And while there maybe a reason for that, it's still hard not to be disappointed because the Saleen 302 is such a beautiful vehicle. But like I said, he's a good figure and I like him a lot.

 

Why is there only 1 Decepticon while the rest are Autobots?

 

Yea it is a bummer they fuck wiyh the designs so much thar it takes a few years to get an accurate toy. Sometimes it's takes 30 something years amd still don't have *cough* G1 Cartoon Optimus Prime *cough*

I'm guessing that they will eventually give us an accurate version of the car mode in some transformable form.

 

There's more then 1 Decepticon. There is Beserker & Barricade, (in wave 1 alone) Megatron, & Nitro. As well as the evil version of Steelbane mold (can't remember name) for a few more examples.
