At least Energon toys weren't barely-painted tiny bricks that for the most part worked as independent figures despite the combination gimmick.

Hot Shot was the only figure that was messed up by having to combine. And Fatimus is well, Fatimus.

To be fair, Injector isn't actually a bad toy. I think people just thought he looked ugly at the time due to his face and oversized head. But as a toy to play with, there are worse Beast Wars toys. I had Dinobot Striker and couldn't for the life of me transform him back to being a stegosaurus. I really didn't like Beast Wars toys with beast kibble just haphazardly hanging off the robot mode getting in the way of articulation, or having awkward panels that had to be lined up exactly to transform. Neither of which applies to Injector.

And if the fandom of the late 90s saw the modern day Robots in Disguise era toys, I think they would have embraced Injector more as being the superior toy. Or they might have loved the RiD toys simply because they are trucks, cars and jets. The late 90s was a different time for the fandom.

Energon wasn't half bad at all. those toys actually had some effort put into them, and alot of them still hold up today.

I myself prefer the more weird Beast Wars toys, mainly the Neo molds. I have Saberback who became Dinobot Striker in the US, and I quite like him. but then again, I am one of the only people on earth who likes MP05 because of his transformation so iunno.

And Fatimus is a pretty decent toy, I loved it as a kid. It's the funny kind of bad.

True, I still kind of want one, preferably not with a mouth. one day I'll snag a Grand Convoy for a decent price.

You're not wrong. Injector wasn't that bad.

He is miles better than the POS Team-Bee combiner.

And yet, here we all are engaging in a somewhat serious discussion about toys, on they internet, at a site devoted to said hobby.

Next, you'll be saying that Hasbro has no right to make any products aimed at nostalgia...

Hasbro can do whatever they want to reference G1, I'm just saying maybe grow up and realize 30 years was a long time ago.

    What's funny is you're comparing a $45 simplified combiner to a $35 simplified combiner.

And that $35 simplified combiner comes from a toyline that has...is it 25 years now?...of simplified combiners. So apparently Bandai knows something that we don't about what kids like.

So if you're attempting to hold the BoA Megazords up as the standard for what a simplified combiner can be, I'm just going to laugh because I already know what these forums would do if Hasbro sold something like that as its primary figure (hell, we're seeing it *now* with these RiD Combiners)

I'm learning that I won't pay full price for these RiD Combiner toys, but significant discounts will make me budge. I can wait until this is $20 or less somewhere.

What would also help sell these is if there were more variety in the limbs of Galvatronus and Menasor. Part of what really sold CW was the mix/match aspect...but these you have to be buy as a set so if you like aspects of one but not another you're stuck with no way to mix and match at the time of purchase.

Seems like Hasbro is going back to their G1 roots with all of this overly simplified generic looking toys.

It was cool in the 80s. Toy tech was different and Transforming robots was a new concept.

Here we are in 2017. There's no excuses.

Not really. In the 80s if you wanted a toy robot you could choose from Voltron, Robotech, Saber Rider, GoBot etc.

Now if you want a toy robot you either go Transformers or Power Rangers.

Smaller toy marker => less competition => companies have a bigger monopoly => cheap the fuck out.

True, but I think he means there are no excuses as in overall product quality wise. they're obviously doing this to cheap out, but they have no excuse as in to why they're this simple other then its cheap and "its for kids"

You've also got a much bigger age span in your fanbase. Not every figure they make is going to be for adult collectors. No matter what the loudest ones want to think.

It doesn't need to be, but there's simple and there's lazy. Rescue bots are simple, they are stable and made for kids to smash around. are these things going to kill the franchise or something? no. but they're not very good. I don't think I would have liked these as a kid, and I had fairly low standards. there's nothing wrong if you like them, but don't act like there's nothing wrong with them either. they are cheap, lazy cash ins that are outdone by 30 year old toys.

Ten dollars? Big deal. There are probably examples of Megazords that have similar prices and are still more desirable for kids. Both are made by companies with decades of experience making transforming, combining robot toys for kids. Hasblo here have made one that probably isn't as popular as the main competition, which is almost certainly Power Ranger zords.

Also, the current price is around 25 dollars, reduced from THIRTY FOUR. Or are you stating that the Hasblo version is more expensive? If that's so, then my point is the cheaper Bandai version is more desirable.

    - Amazon.com: Power Rangers 43596 Ninja Steel DX Ninja Steel Megazord: Toys & Games

The point still stands. More so, in fact.

Also, telling people to "grow up", while discussing toys online at a forum dedicated to them isn't exactly a mature thing to do, is it?
