It's got to the point where I'm hesitant and genuinely feel guilty for posting in here because I know it's going to get people's hopes up. What is TT doing to us?!

I'll know when the prototype images get posted because I'll go to the first unread post and there will be 6 new pages to the thread.

If Dinobot is revealed in the Tokio Toy show and everything after it is fine, we could get Dinobot in November.

Something I was thinking about last night in terms of the tail sword, I know beating a dead horse here, but in terms of design what if it is a longer version of the barb part of the weapon we got from the recent waspinator figure

The tail is a puzzle to solve - it will involve compromise one way or another. It just depends on which way they feel will please the most fans and do the character and figure the most justice. I could see many different options being considered. I would guess whatever they come up with will bring a smile to most of our faces.

I'm not a Bay-Movie Universe fan, mostly because the flavor of those films doesn't work for me...
The robot designs, on the other hand, I always kinda liked.
They're a huge departure from the G1 aesthetic, but they're pretty on point with the direction of the series circa 2003--almost the Transtech style done on present day earth.
With the reveal of the new MPM Optimus Prime, I'm tempted to dip into that well... the toys look very nice! (Ultimately, they're probably not for me, I've dumped any previous Movie-Line toys I've purchased--I just can't abide the source material.)

    ALL THIS TO SAY:
Holy-moley! If they can't nail MP Dinobot after seeing that MPM Optimus Prime, I'll eat my hat!
The movie designs are every bit as untranslatable to plastic as the early Beast Wars characters. Too much magic onscreen. I'm more confident now than ever that Dinobot will be done justice! ;)

With the delay in news, TT may well skip the grey prototype test-shot part of the design news updates and go straight to a coloured figure reveal.

I'm sure I've enjoyed the appearance of one or two movie characters throughout the years but I really don't want to allow myself to collect any of the toys just because the films do nothing for me and I have no attachment to any of the 'characters.' Also I'm such a stickler for screen accuracy that only the Prime 1 statues or 3A stuff really tickles my fancy with the genuine scuffed metal appearance and they're luckily all way out of my price range.

That being said, I think figuring out Dinobot is probably more complicated than MPM Prime, not only due to the differences between a truck and an organic creature (didn't say munky!) and the lack of kibble-placing options in the alt-mode but because Dinobot has to pretty much turn fully inside out and hide all his beast mode bits except for the raptor legs which become his bot arms and even they have to undergo a pretty huge shift in shape and grow some mass while absorbing the feet and claws to somehow produce his bot hands from nowhere. A faux chest is a given at this point which means there's a raptor head and a lot of beast mode skin (and possibly the arms too) which need to be concealed in his torso. I think for this to work there'll have to be quite a few double-sided spinning and extending panels which is why as well as dying to merely own my favourite beast warrior, I'm also very interested to see how his transformation is handled. Normally, as long as it works, I'm not that bothered how they did it but this time I'm really curious as I've spent years myself trying to come up with the solution to all these problems.

Also, Dinobot was very expressive in his body language; especially his shoulders which he would slouch quite often. The only times he really stood up fully straight were to gloat during his smug moments to produce the most exaggerated effect of looking down his nose at his peers, to say something Shakespearean or to merely show off/impose his height on them and let everybody know he could crush them in an instant if he so chose. With that in mind, Cheetor's shoulder articulation, though somewhat fragile, is most welcome for expressive posing options and I'd love a similar, albeit sturdier, method used with Dinobot so I can bow his head and hunch him over in deep shame! From time to time. He loved to sulk.

I could see a lot of kibble like beast mode arms and some hide being stored in the backs of the robot legs. Remember the figure doesn't need to look perfect, just incredibly close to it.

I'm thinking raptor arms hiding inside the bot legs too. They should be the most substantial beast mode arms any Dinobot has ever had too. They're practically human apart from the claws unlike all the scrawny twig arms other incarnations of Dinobot have received. All those bicep curls being totally neglected by toy companies must sting. Hope he doesn't get a complex.

Or they could just deliver it straight to all our homes. Why wait for an order or payment or any of that?

Nice attention to detail Chopper Face. Beast Wars used body language really well I think.

Those of you who have Cheetor can imagine that this could turn out to be a pretty big raptor mode, this is from Chain of Command. That MPM Prime is very impressive and looks like it's a significant improvement to it's predecessor. It has done that without the advantage of being larger than the ROTF Leader class figure.
