i feel like 5 different versions of this figure will come out so I\'am not worried.

 

I wouldn't say "don't worry" the last 4 movies the correct deco TakaraTomy Optimus had been a BEAR to get ahold of within the first 6 to 9 months! I've been collecting for 21 adult years amd I say DO WORRY get it as soon as you see it if you want it! Because thay shit is gonna sell out the instant it hits live.


Also the Taiwanese is just a scratched up hasbro, thr TakaraTomy is probably like this just no purple eyes. Thars what I'm gunning for

Different version dude. Thars the Hasbro this is TakaraTomy's (i.e. Japan's correct deco version)

He looks good, but at this point, I think I\'d rather just repaint the Hasbro version than spend the extra $$ on the import price.

In Japan, Voyager Optimus is Toysrus JP exclusive and already listed.

No, the exclusive Dark Optimus also has a blue shield, it's just the same dark blue of the figure instead of the light blue.

 

I thought Takara had already announed their regular retail version and that it was the same as the Hasbro version. Takara does not always have special deco'ed version for their regular retail network. IIRC, Takara's DOTM line was the same as Hasbro's.

I know all that but Optimus is a TRU store exclusive instead of just a general release. So maybe they may release a better version later, though my suspicion is that this Dark Optimus will probably be it as far getting a more accurate deco.

Knowing Takara I wouldn't be surprised if they release voyager Optimus again later on as part of the mainline, without the purple, but with blue instead

Even with the still-not-accurate weapons, he's definitely looking better than the regular Hasbro version.

I love the darker gray color scheme! It reminds me of Takara Tomy DA-28 Striker Optimus Prime, which happens to be my absolute favorite deco/version of that Leader mold.

 

This would have been a ballpark strike if the arms were painted up. As is, I expect a future repaint to replace it in accuracy down the line

 

Yeah, it's not bad at all. If Hasbro hadn't painted so much silver (or random colour's on the weapons) flames on the chest probably wouldn't have been beyond the budget. Still, hopefully this one won't be too hard to track down on the after-market, or too expensive...

 

Ugh, that's what wave 1 shoulda been! Now we're probably gonna have to wait a year for the "ultra super premium $150 bbts exclusive boxed set with five other figures you don't want" to get that.

 

Well fortunately, hasbro Prime has grey plastic which is largely gunmetal, which might actually match with the takara ticket one. It might just be a matter of stripping most of the paint off and minor repainting to match the look.

 

I really wish I had the confidence to go ahead and paint mine (though I'm now wishing mine had the non-battlemask head). Solid blocks of colour aren't a problem if I could find the right colour paint, but it's stripping off the unnecessary paint apps and painting the flames that have me worried.

It still has me baffled why Hasbro didn't give theirs a more accurate look in the first place, just with the blue eyes, especially as they're marketing the Premier Editions as the movie accurate line. Yes there's extra tampos for the chest flames but that could be easily traded off by not having the Autobot symbols in alt mode or putting so much inaccurate paint on the weapons etc.

Just put in my pre-order for this figure (or rather, my wife did on my behalf, bless her heart  ). Gonna be quite a bit of a wait until September though since I got the standalone non-ticket version (I can watch TLK movie for cheaper elsewhere).

 

Had an overseas relative pitch in an order today too (not for myself though)!
