This is gooing to be difficult to get in Japan.  The previous CW Energon Megatron sold out really fast, leaving me the USA as the only cost-effective option (as the secondary market prices were a rip-off).

I suspect that this version will be equally hard to get...

I agree, nothing has beaten the original yet, including this guy. The G2 colourway seems to be the best version of this.

I already have the Laser Prime version of this mold, but I really like Black Convoy.

Gotta figure out if I can justify spending that much on a voyager.

You're talking about the KB Toys exclusive RID Scourge which was a deluxe, Combat Hero Prime repaint. The RID Scourge most fans acknowledge as "thee" RID Scourge is the TRU exclusive one, which was a repaint of G2 Laser Optimus.

With that said, TRU RID Scourge is actually bigger than this new LG Scourge. TRU RID Scourge is closer to the old ultra class rather than the current voyager class and has a separate trailer which spring-load transforms into a trailer of massive annihilation. Meanwhile this LG Black Convoy has the trailer built in and doesn't have the base. Instead it turns into a jet.

The TRU Scourge was Black Convoy in Japan for Car Robots first in 2000.

Really wound me up it was a TRU exclusive, and skipped in the UK.

Didn't the Spychanger Scourge beat it to the shelves?

Copy that. Having never handled the molds before, I couldn't say for sure which one was bigger.

I want this to go with Baldigus, but now that I've seen it, I think Laser Optimus is the best use of the mold (not including Octane). Since I try not to buy multiple versions of a mold, I think I'll try to see if I can find a Laser Optimus and skip this.

Well in my humble opinion, Tokyo Toy Show exclusives are never hard to get/obtain (especially since whatever that came after Henkei Clear/Crystal Convoy) because they really churn out the pieces in huge numbers.

I think I read somewhere that eHobby/Tokyo Toy Show stuffs are literally produced from 8,000 pieces onwards so that makes these available generally.

I do not have problems getting my hands on these & in fact, I often adopt a KIV attitude which proved to be rewarding often than not in the run.

    I say relax. :)

I think he just means hard to get in Japan. I'm not sure who will be carrying it in Japan outside of going to the toy show itself. If not places like HLJ or AmiAmi, then someone in Japan will have to wait for a retailer in another country like the US to import it, and then re-import it from them back to Japan.

KB Scourge might be close in size to this new LG Black Convoy, but TRU Scourge is definitely bigger than both.

Having had all three molds, I can confirm the original TRU is a little bigger, and the KB Scourge is smaller... LG Black Convoy is right between them.

Just thinking story wise this tooling actually makes a fair amount of sense, if I recall RiD2001 correctly, Scourge had energy from Megatrons spark and some human element to his spark due to how he came on line. Again if I recall correctly Scourge could increase how much of his spark was prime like or human like, so if he were to up the amount of Megatron like his spark was it could explain the extra mode (given Megatron was a 6 changer) & try to remove or separate the human element leading to the creation of his headmaster. Could make for a fun little fanfic for someone.

I would agree. However, like I wrote before, the Combiner Wars Armada style Megatron some out there. My relaxed attitude cost me a wanted toy that day. My Japanese friend's son also couldn't get one. That was around 12pm on a Saturday, I believe. Previous exclusives, such as Nemesis Evasion Prime and Grimlock (at the Transformers exhibition) were easily available, so we thought Megatron would be a breeze.

    We were wrong.

Yes. Exactly this. Sometimes, etailers take pity on some of us collectors in Japan when we order Japanese regular/exclusive toys back to Japan, as scalpers can make it a problem. Usually these days though, even though there are scalpers, I think most retailers get their stock from China/Asia outside Japan. Still embarrassing ordering them for Japan, though.
