Guess mine is just a bum. Too bad I waited so long to open him. Now it will be astronomical to replace.
Darn. I still haven't opened my Takara one yet. Maybe I should. Then again I may do that when Trypticon gets his release.
I remember the batteries issue came up a few years back when Gen Metroplex was still new. I think the common solution was to make sure you have fresh NEW batteries installed, semi depleted charges causes no response. The electronics on it are rather sensitive, much like MP Shockwave, it's all or nothing. So don't give up until you've made sure you have fresh batteries. Good luck.
I am waiting for my DNA replacement hands to arrive for my Metroplex. One more option kit to be installed on my white plastic robo-toddler.
I still can't get over how bad Metroplex looks especially when compared to his retool Fortress Maximus. The two things that look the absolute worst is his white, emaciated face that looks a skull. Combine that with his helmet and he looks like a skull wearing a wig. Then there's the torso. That thin, skinny waist is God-awful. Seriously it's bad. These two gripes prevented me from buying Metroplex when it first came out. Now that I look back on this Metroplex and compare it to Fortress Maximus, there's no way that I would spend a small fortune to acquire it.
The Takara one fixes the 'skull' face. Personally, I love the figure. My Takara copy is one of those few figures I'll never part with. Even with the thin waist (like the G1 figure) and exposed hands in alt modes, it's still one of my favorite figures.
Mine was the same way. You might have to take the piece apart and see if there are any loose wires. I took mine apart and I saw that a few wires were almost hanging out of the black piece behind the speaker. I pushed them back in a bit and used a bit of electrical tape to hold the wires in place. It's not perfect, but I can hear the noises again.
Mine stands and poses just fine. I do wish they'd have used better springs in all the leg joints, though.
Its super eazy to tighten up the points. Did it to metroplex and fort max. All you have to do is take it apart and stretch all the springs then put back together. Both can hold great poses now and metro is not floppy at all.
Or you can add plastic washers under the springs. Does the same thing without potentially wrecking the spring.
I maybe stretched them 1/8" and did metro not long after I got him back when he was first released. No problems with the springs so far.
I put the DNA hand on Metroplex last night and wow, what a difference they make! I'm not scared to put his guns in his hands anymore. His stock left hand cracked from wiggling one in before. Brings my enjoyment of the figure to a whole new level.
So far, so good. There's a slot for the tab on the handle, and the figures and thumb wrap around much better than the stock hands.
