I'm interested in seeing what the justification for a voyager bb is. I'm guessing he gets upgraded to a bigger alt mode in which case I'll probably buy it if it looks like a cool toy but it's not like I'm screaming out for another bb. :/

How so...? Those are Ultra-class toy packages with a Voyager and a Basic (the idea being that two Minicons also make up the value of one Basic/Scout, even though they were traditionally in three-packs, but Cybertron did Minicon two-packs for that same price point too), or at least their equivalents at the time. We're talking about a single deluxe Transformer, not a set of them. It's not exactly an equivalent.

Battle Blade Bumblebee being a voyager is literally selling one toy, perhaps with minor colour alterations, for a lot more than it's worth, not entirely new repaints of multiple toys. You're comparing apples and oranges. Not to mention that that's 14 years ago for a tiny segment of one line, so it's hardly setting a precedent.

 

The last 2 figures in Wave 3 of both sizes better not be the only reveals for Reveal Your Shield.

 

It's Hasbro selling smaller toys in a higher price point, granted they added to to make it seem more worth wile to the buyer. I would not be surprised to see them to it again. Battle Blade Bee with 5mm hands and a Titan Master...

It's a popular theory, you'd think it would have a different name though. Yes it could be to preserve the surprise but it already had a code name for that. I'm expecting the same character we know but in a new bigger body like Hot Shot in TF Cybertron or Prowls armoured car form in IDWs recent history.

 

BBBB is closer to a modern Voyager. At least as tall. Hes got more plastic and complexity in him than a modern deluxe anyway.

Plus you know, children don't care what was released 7 years ago.

I would be ok with that. I just don't understand why they think we need the same character as the other 4 movies in like 5 different size classes? Is it really that profitable vs making new characters?

 

Sometimes it is better to use a known name rather than try to get people to buy into a new one.

This is from a promotional hype video a few weeks back that featured all of the Autobot with new modes from Earth's past. It wasn't cannon. But it did show a full shot of the new tank robot in the film. Plus, we do know Bumblebee has been on Earth for decades, going back to WWII.(Hot Rod was also apperently there.)

We know the 2018 Bumblebee movie is a prequel, so I have to wonder if it's set during WWII and this is the mode he used. The design is pretty much just a reshell of his AOE design, but the designs have shownnthey aren't afraid to re-use things. Plus, Bee will be the star of his own movie. He's going to get voyager figure without a doubt.

 

Who the heck is buying their kid a $30 voyager bumblebee?

I can see the appeal of the one step or legends figures because it's something cheap you can grab for your kid when they want a bumblebee. There's no way that I'm buying my kid a voyager when there is a deluxe version on the shelf unless the voyager is completely different. I just think they produce way too much of the same character at the same time.

 

Sometimes you just buy people you love shit they want.
