This, to be quite honest if I find 2, I'll buy both, but the second probably won't be sold for cost

Yeah, I am the nicest guy in the world but F people who want you to pick something up for them. When windcharger was showing up at 5 below, I was offering to send them to anyone for $15 - $6 for the fig (after tax) $.80 for the padded envelope, $.20 for the label, $4 for shipping, I was making like $1.35 a figure for my time and multiple trips to the post office and people ripped me all over the place for "scalping"

F that, i'll never do it again (unless its someone I know personally, and not more than 1 or 2 figs)

So, I decided to stop by my local Walmart to see if this guy was there. I walk up to the toy aisle and find a small family (mom, dad, and 6-or-7-year-old kid) looking at the transformers. I hang back so I don't make them feel pressured or like I'm lurking on them. The kid was looking mostly at the NuRID figures, but then he suddenly turns, reaches behind a Skullsmasher, and grabs...Chromedome. I got a quick look and I'm 99% sure it was the Takara head. He says, "I want this one." His mom says "okay" and they start to walk away.

I was so torn between my feelings of "Awe, awesome; a new fan. I hope he enjoys the toy." and my inner collector screaming "Noooooooooooooooo! I wanted that one!!!!!!"

Then, all of a sudden. A ray of hope. Dad says, "No, you got a toy yesterday. Put it back." My heart stopped.
But then, Mom cuts in and says, "I already told him he could have it." She puts it in the basket and they all walk away.

I considered running up and offering them money for it, but then just decided to cut my losses.

I do actually hope the kid likes it.

Has anyone else been able to find this in the wild? I'm curious if this is a permanent change going forward or just exclusive to this wave or case.

Yup, I hook up locals, but in my hunting prime, I was hitting a minimum of 3 stores per day (usually close to 10+ when something was dropping), knew stock days, would show up at TRU before opening, Walmart during night time stock, etc. I would work for what I grabbed, and will always help out my locals (and probably had more favors returned my way). I know many locals who hunt relentlessly for many different lines (not just TF) and put in work. I toned down my hunting substantially these days, but if I don't know the person, or the effort they put into their own hunting, I don't feel too terrible not hooking up randos over the internet. At least Transformers are no where near as bad as other lines to collect.

this is so true. ive never had a problem not finding a transformer that i wanted. maybe going a bit farther out of my way every once in a while but i still find them.
i still have yet to see a scarlet witch in store or find a green goblin from marvel legends. you think Tf scalping is bad marvel legend scalping is worse

So...I have been checking every Chromedome I see (which are quite a few, actually...wave 2 might be the most well-circulated set in my area) and zero Takara-headed Chromedomes have showed up since the one I found.

Are they dried up already? :(

LOL!! The rollercoaster of emotions!! :D
I think many of us could identify with this...and obviously, you did the right thing by standing back.
    Great story.

In any case, it's so nice to see a kid pick a good figure. I hope he'll like it too...who knows? Maybe 20 years from now, he'll be on TFW2005 talking about the weird head that came with the Chromedome that he got as a kid...like some of us did pondering over who the hell Bumblejumper was or why our Optimus Prime has bloated fists.

Too many of my Walmarts are still trying to push out the half-pallet drop of Wave 1/2 figures from Christmas. All the Chromedomes they have are mostly from that drop, which do not have the Takara head. And the one Walmart that seemed to actually get a new shipment in had nothing but Hasbro heads...and the next shipment should be wave 4 figures. So yeah, chances of finding one here in Wichita are slim to none.

I still havent found any. Its funny the Takara Chromedome is a collector store nearby but way too expensive for my taste.

So you got a fresh shipment that included Chromedome and it had the standard/IDW head? What store is this?
Sad news in any case...(no pun intended)

Yep! I hear you on this. Many Takara releases are worth the "collector tax" (like Legends Blurr) and many aren't. I'm with you on skipping an imported Chromedome. It's a sharp repaint and the head sculpt is significantly better (in my opinion) but the Hasbro one is really nice and not all that different.

i have never seen a single Chromedome in any store with the Takara head. this is across NC (Raleigh area), Colorado (Denver, Glenwood Springs, Silverthorne) and central Florida (Orlando, Oveido, and Lake Mary) over the last two months. i have scoured Walgreens, Walmarts, TRUs, and even Aldi. lately, i've seen scores of Chromedomes on the pegs and every single one always has the Hasbro head.

Never saw a Chromedome with the Takara head either. I checked alot of Wallys in central Arkansas to no avail. Figure since alot of stores seem to be stocking TR wave 3 now that that the ship for Takara-Dome had sailed.
