I'm sure Joe Taslim, whoever he is, would be happy to know that you'd buy him over Trypticon. Although you should probably wait for the Hasbro version of Joe Taslim because he'll be cheaper but won't come with as many accessories.

The killer for me, the movie decepticon symbol on the side of the head, I had hoped it was just Hasbro that had screwed up there. hopefully it's a tampo/sticker rather than sculpted as that kind of niggle would just bite at me. So that's why I'll pass until I get confirmation either way.

I really am not sure we have seen the TakaraTomy version. If it's the same, I guess we all get to save some money for once. The Hasbro Trypticon looks acceptable.

He is isn't the only one. I have buddies who ONLY buy 'official' stuff that are disappointed in this Tryticon. Its 'under scaled and hollow'.

I used to be one of them but in the last year or so taken a dip into the 3P line because HasTak's quality has fallen.

Example, the plastic of TR Hot Rod - I have know of folks who actually thought the figure was a bootleg because of the quality of the plastic.

Also check-out the other Tryticon thread...the latter looks like Metroplex's pet lizard!

It seems that earlier promo pictures showing the two always have them taken at certain angles to hide the height discrepancy.

This was one chance to give us 'wow' us fans with a proper Titan Class Tryticon. If HasTak just 'added' maybe $10-20 more just for the increased plastic, most of us would still buy it. Isn't it the trend for collectors or adults who shell out for these type of 'expensive' stuff?

Besides oil prices aren't as high as in recent years.

Wait, aren't they still trying to sell these to the parents of... children? I won't get into an argument about who the main customer base is... but they are two separate groups that they try to please with a single product.

And the plastic prices are far outweighed by parts count, and logistics of shipping bigger/heavier products to the end point of sale.

I get what you mean but I would rather re-phrase it as "selling it to parents who grew up with the G1 branding" i.e. they know who Tryticon is.

This figure or whatever G1 based TF is meant to tuck at the nostalgia strings at us - be it as parents or collectors.

Take me as a parent for instance. I only buy expensive playsets or toys that I grow up for my kids. Example, TFs and Stat Wars as opposed to Power Rangers.

With regards to the plastic issue...HasTak could have easily 'upsized' the mould and work around the parts issue.

It's not like the current TF toys aren't hollow enough - I hope you get the 'joke'! LOL!

I can indeed understand why many people say that... Clipped on wheels and such, hollow plastic, you name it.

Yeah I don't know... for a $15 toy I'm fairly happy with Hot Rod.

I paid roughly the same price for my CHUG Hot Rod but the 'make' i.e. build structure and quality of materials (such as plastics) use feels so much better.

If I recall correctly, the CHUG Hasbro Hot Rod was cheaper than the current TR Hot Rod in my country.

Personally I don't feel like I'm getting value for my money with the current TFs.

Anyway, I pre-ordered Tryticon (Takara version) so at the end of the day, I'm still getting it. After that, all that's left for me in terms of 'official' mainline TF is Scorponok.

Other than that I'll just 'cherry pick' whatever 'official' TF that catches my attention.

Well comparing the TR deluxes to CW deluxes and I'd say there's significant improvement in play-ability, quality, and value for money. I have a hard time making any statements about value when it comes to toys though.

Well, all I can post is that if one don't see any 'value' in buying or collecting toys then don't collect them.

What I meant is in more 'bang for one's buck' in terms of materials and structure.

Playability...that depends on the individual. One collector or parent can find more playability in a 'play-doh' set as opposed to a TF figure.

I'm buying Hasbro's Trypticon but I really can't disagree with any of these issues especially the disappointing height.

There's no way I'd pay $225 (instead of $150) for Takara's version knowing there are no stand out differences currently.

Yes, I get what you mean with regards to the colour differences but IMO TakaraTomy hasn't finalized the colours yet?

If they have...this will be the first time (as far as I can recall) that the colour differences are minimal!

I wouldn't be surprised if the differences are minimal.... It would explain why Takara's giving him such an early push while we still haven't seen a single hint about their version of Sixshot, wave's 3 or 4 of the deluxe's or Overlord.

    not enough fanservice,try again.

Legends Roadbuster was extremely similar to his US release. there have been plenty of similar releases from Takara, an older one that comes to mind is Windcharger from United.
