I think Trypticon is shorter because they had to keep the same plastic budget while giving him the big dino tail. A G1 homage Scorponok doesn't need a super big scorpion tail, so he could be just as big using a similar amount of plastic.

If this happens I will be very disappointed in HASTAK. Reusing the Metro/fort max parts yet again? C'mon guys the needed funds to make new molds must be somewhere. But maybe I'm just being too optimistic again. Either way I almost wish HASTAK would redo Metroplex. He feels so hollow, especially compared to Trypt, from what I've seen.

But in the end, seeing as Scorponok is basically my favorite decepticon ever, I'll still buy him anyway.

We all knew he was going to be shorter, because size class and price are determined not by height, but by amount of plastic used. Tryp is easily 2ft. the same as Metroplex and Max, but with him, it's measured from the tip of the tail, and he has the stooped over posture of a dinosaur.

In any case, far from having dropped a ball, I think Trypticon is by miles the most impressive looking of the 3 citybots so far. And I say that as someone who voted for Scorponok and had zero plans to buy Trypticon.

Trypticon's size is fine. As stated, it is to be expected. At least he looks like Trypticon, appears to actually have 3 proper and distinct modes, and he isn't completely lacking in detail. These are major accomplishments sadly.

Fort Max was so disappointing and ultimately did not do that character justice. There was a lot of remolding, but ultimate the transformation doesn't work and he lacks practical accessories. He has less features and less convincing alt modes than the orginal by a wide margin. We definitely don't need a Scorponok in the same situation. If they want to reuse molds, let's get a Metrotitan. Or if we must a Grand Max or Brave Max.

Scorponok needs to be a new mold. Omega Supreme would obviously also need to be new. Then they can do Black Zarak and Omega Sentinel. All they have to do is play the obvious game instead of forcing themselves into bad situations. They overthough Fortress Maximus. They thought they were better than they were. With Trypticon, it appears maybe we are on a better path.

Good point on the scorpion tail...I hope his height isn't compromise.

I know you guys mean well as in trying to 'comfort' me but I'm seriously disappointed. Tryticon isn't even up to Metroplex's shoulder (based on the picture). Thesize and height difference between the two city bots is really too much for me. And that's why I suspect when we had early promo pictures of the two, Tryticon was in the fore-ground and in one instance, Metroplex was prone on the ground.

I got to agree on the new Fortress Maximus...the original version was so much better in terms of features, gimmicks and alternate modes. Oh well, I guess Tryticon will be the first city bot I won't double dip.

Easy fix. Buy Utopia and replace Metroplex. Crisis averted.

The fix to Trypticon being too short is to make Metroplex way too short, too? Two wrongs don't make a right.

They probably could have done him the same height as metroplex for $200, maybe they tought it would have been too risky making him so expensive. For me is current size is fine, not perfect but I can accept the compromise made.

Oh my bad. As soon as you said the word "Canada" I felt for you. Not because Canada is a bad place, it's actually quite awesome. But because the cost of everything Transformers/action figure wise is quite high. And let's say you wanna order cheaper in Japan, well that doesn't quite work out in Canada due to crazy shipping prices amirite? So I totally understand now.

The fact u don't like him vrs the cost is well more understood now. I'm thinking if he is built heavy duty like MP-10 Prime, like I've heard, then he'll way different then even a 2009 Leader. But that is still remained to be seen until we, as Americans, have him in our grasp.

One thing I gotta ask, assuming you could pay what I'm paying $156USD I believe it works out to today, would you want him then? Because tbh, I would HATE paying $310 for a masterpiece "what are we in 2011 again?" Lol ;)  (MP-10 cost then)

Finally ... what is with mobile devices since 2016 they have been screwing with out words. GRRRR lol

I was actually thinking about it last night! Serious! LOL! But...

    Yeah, that's how I felt ultimately...two wrongs don't make a right.

You are completely correct about both the costs and the shipping in Cnada. it gets nuts sometimes, especially if you live on a province that is an island like me. No other choice really but air mail then.

It isn't that I don't like the new MP-36, but I could never justify it for what it would take to get him here in hand. My point is this, the cost of MP's is such that they are really limiting their market to certain parts of the world where it makes greater economic sense. If he could be had for 156, which is an amazing price, especially since the going rate I have seen has been 229, yeah, most likely he would be very, very tempting. I haven't dipped in the MP pool only because I know me, if I had one, I would want the whole line AND the 3 p to make up for characters we don't yet have. And, I think you will agree, that can become one hell of an expensive rabbit hole, lol. But yes, 156 is still expensive BUT farrrrr more manageable.

I think predictive text is winning the battle against good spelling and grammar, sadly. You should see the papers I get handed in sometimes, lol.

As a fellow Canadian I feel you, but I'm still super impressed by MP Megs, I just will likely never own him. I cna look at something, love it, and still objectively say it's overpriced without bismirching it.

That said, I'll keep an eye on Mandarake. Who knows, a lot of very expensive items show up for far below retail on there. SOC GaoGaigar, a $300, wen for about $150 once.

I sure wasn't trying to besmirch it. I mean, he looks insanely impressive with an impressive transformation. I think my question is this - does the fact that something looks impressive really warrant a price tag that high OR are we being gouged? I don't know the answer, just wondering out loud.

I have no clue what Mandrake is but wow, that is a major price difference. Is that a store or some such place? Wait! Did I just learn something new, lol?

Sorry, sorry, I haven't been keeping up with this well...

Is this final confirmation that the Takara and Hasbro decos are virtually identical?

We don't know yet. It's likely there similar, but highly unlikely they are identical.
