Sometimes they do. It's really weird what make sit to the front page for third party stuff. My guess is whatever the news mods think is particularly cool.

 

That would be my guess as well, otherwise the front page would have wayyyyy more 3p stuff on it than official.  

 

I think they mostly wait for prototypes and full reveals, I'm guessing they get tired of the dumbass silhouette teases that the third party companies seem to like so much.

They do, but it's been toned way down. Last 3P news on the front page was 03/10/17. Think it's pretty much down to new product reveals and major updates.

 

They're different designs but they are all related. Very long time Transfans will remember.

Back in the Dreamwave Era, The War Within comic made probably the first real attempt to merge both Starscream's basic design with the Tetrajet form, which was previously animation only. The design in WWI was supposed to be the Tetrajet, just done with more detail and, like most Don Figueroa designs, be transformable.



It lead to a number of design details that first showed up in toy firm in the Transformers Energon Starscream mold, then much more so in the Galaxy Force / Cybertron mold. This includes integrating the wings/guns directly onto the arms (instead of them being attached to the back), the red stripes on the shoulder, the multi-vents on the knees, and lifted from the G1 toy's stickers (a Don thing that a lot of his DW designs did, in addition to unused toy details), the yellow bombs on the shoulders.



They are different designs, but they WWI design is the midway point between the two. There is the historic tetrajet, that the WWI design tried to rationalize. And then a couple of years later, Takara/Hasbro took the WWI design and used it as a starting point for the very similar (but different) Galaxy Force design.

Of course, this was a different time for Transformers, when homages like GF Starscream or Energon Shockblast was all long time fans got. Today, Hasbro would be more likely to do whatever they wanted for the TV show line and just release a Cybertron-form mold in Generations.


That said if you want to see how absurd it is in 2017 that we haven't gotten an awesome Voyager Seeker mold, put GF Starscream on a shelf next to TR Megatron and FoC Soundwave. GF Starscream is gorgeous, but a seeker mold that size would be essential to any collection.

 

Still think this release is kinda unnecessary (but aren't they all really? xD)

Would much rather that g1 mp alike they teased but whatev I suppose! I'm sure this'll look amazing anyway. Not really something for my collection right now but what do ya do

 

They're doing a G1 design too. I'd be more interested in this one more, though.

Ehh...I wasn't expecting a redesign. A lot of the changes just don't look right to me, especially the shoulders and whatever's going on with that midsection.

 

Please do it in SG colors!!!!!!!

 

Dunno what parts you're considering "redesigned". Arms and midsection are stretched out a bit to eliminate the "stumpiness" of the original toy, but otherwise the details are all intact and looking pretty accurate.

The only other thing going on with the midsection is that it looks a bit askew because it seems they've engineered in a waist joint.

The gun he's holding is new, though.

 

Goddammit....I want that now.

Erm...that's not a redesign, it looks like he stepped off of an episode of Tf:cybertron. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed it!!!!!

 

The gun is based on the one from the voyager class mold with a few embellishments cause he never actually used it in the show.

 

This thing is seriously badass!!

I still wish it was Voyager size, but hot damn I'll be getting him regardless.

 

Ok, there is one thing about this guy that kinda bugs me, those guns on his arms shouldn't be guns. I mean sure he used them as guns in the show, but they were these wierd alien looking rectangular things that never actually looked like guns. It's something distinct that I remember about the character that I hope Maketoys fixes.

 

I will get any recolor, especially SG!

 

What is there to fix?

Just ignore them.
