no the idea i had was going to buy three sets of the TFM Stunticons or maybe 4, 1 to display as cars, 1 as their alt modes, 1 combined set and 1 set to repaint as their G2 counterparts

$200 ouch. At that price point I'd rather buy something else.

I'll see if I can put something together to offer him for cheaper but probably won't know until box size is known and confirmed.

Why would you think this when MM has a release date of May and we haven't even seen a color prototype of Deadend yet?

Considering Generation Toy's GT-3 (Optimus Prime) is about $160 without the trailer, add in the trailer for MM and you have the price set at about $200. That is one expensive ($40) trailer...or maybe not.

There are retailers offering this for less. TCP and TFSource will either lower their price or sit on stock waiting for late buyers or people who don't know any better. Problem with ordering from Tony on Chimungmung/Robotoybase is after shipping that thing you aren't getting much of a deal (at least to the states).

    $200 at some retailers?

    Ouch, that's disappointing for sure.

But you do get a deal.

Get the product faster and still save about $10~15 dollars.

    $200.00 is bonkers.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if there are any other price differences when more preorders go up at the other sites.

$200!! my wallet just screamed at me. I was going for 2 sets, one for combine mode and one for robot modes but at that price might just get one set...maybe. I have to wait and see what TW Mensaor looks like to.

As everyone said, that price tag on MM is way inflated. Even at the Asian prices of $170 or so, that's still too much when you compare it to the likes of the competition. TFC Ironshell was like $130 and a very premium torso bot.

I thought TFM was suppose to be a sister company of GT. I was under the impression that their products would be slightly inferior and hence cheaper cause they definitely feel cheaper compared with Gravity Builder.

~$170 - 160... seems more reasonable... If you take into account the $100 price for the limb bots (I supposed they were priced like that, to pay for Powertrain). Ironshell can't be compared to this... Powertrain is a lot bigger and maybe more complex...

When a review shows up we will see if the ~$200 is worth it!

It's not worth it though. The whole fact of the matter is that it is being inflated WAY too much via US retailers.

We'll see if *$170.00* is worth it after reviews. For $200.00, no way in hell. I can't see any person really justifying this unless you're "rich," retired or crazy.

Lucky for Chinese fans. They'll get this for $130.00 or less. Too bad they aren't too into IDW though. Which makes me wonder why TFM isn't offering slightly better prices to US vendors to sell more overall product.

No way I'm offloading USD160 on a product produced by a company with an inconsistent track record. Carnage was severely flawed (terrible leg design, botched paintjobs, messy edges etc, most regretful purchase in recent time), and Generation Toys had yet to respond to those criticisms.

Powertrain looks to be GT's most complex figure yet and I have zero confidence in their ability to do it justice. For the amount GT is charging, you could get yourself a masterpiece figure(be it official or 3rd party) with masterpiece finish and with masterpiece build quality; GT is nowhere near that standard. Shall adopt a wait and see approach, would love to be proven wrong though.

I agree, however, this thing being $130 in China is already part of the problem, because that's almost as much as it should cost for NA. So since it's already $130 before factoring in inbound shipping cost, plus outbound shipping cost to the customer, plus all the smaller fixed costs of running a retail business, it's not surprising that it needs to be at least $180 USD in order to at least break even on it. If it was around $90-100 in China, it'd probably be listed closer to the $160 mark at the major retailers.

I would be ok paying 200.00 for Powertrain if I could only get on board with his robot mode. I still can't get over the face and... something else. Maybe his proportions look wonky to me? Not sure. Their Dragstrip looks super nice and I really do like the combined mode. But spending around 600 bucks for the set for something that is, "kinda sorta" cool to me, just doesn't seem worth it.

I think I'll keep on holding out til the rest of the set is out, maybe sales, maybe box set, maybe my mind will just change. Maybe GT will do a G1 set and partsform Motormaster to get better proportions in robot mode.
