You were funny for a bit just because of how random you were but now you're seriously trying too hard.

I love the look and I've placed a preorder through HLJ. I'll need to get a better look at the Hasbro version, but this way I won't have to worry about preorders selling out, as HLJ has done with most of this line.

Like a few others have said, I'm still not 100% convinced this is the full takara deco. One of the main giveaways is because Full-Tilt's titanmaster Necro/Wipeout still has the unpainted black head & purple body, just like the hasbro version does.

Takara has fully painted all their titanmasters previously, so I'd be surprised if they stop here. Personally I'm hoping because Trypticon has a higher budget his titanmaster will get fully painted too... It's not much, but for some reason it really bothers me on the Hasbro versions.

Hard to compare differences when Hasbro provides CG renders.

But based on that there are little differences here and there.

This is the final. People expecting there to be something more drastic, are likely to be disappointed.

Should have expected this when Hasbro's adhered to how he looked in the animation as closely as he does. Not like Metroplex or Fort Max that either were lacking in paint or had the colors swapped around.

Is Soundwave's base actually attached to Tryp in this shot, or just next to him for a size comparison? I know Soundwave has those connector tabs on the back of him, but I haven't seen a connector ramp there on Tryp yet I don't think

    Wrong. He was never funny.

I've unfortunately had to scale down my purchases since switching jobs at the beginning of the year. There was a time when I'd have bought Dinosaurer without a second thought, but now I probably won't even get the Titans Returns version either (not to mention that I don't like large toys. I bought the Encore Fort Max when it came out and I regretted it, not to mention getting the Platinum Trypticon reissue just to see it go down in price months later. So no TR/Legends Fort Max, no Metroplex, and no Trypticon for me.)

If you look at the photo of Tryp by himself (top left), you'll see a small purple panel on the rear of each of his feet.
There's also a close-up photo of one of them (far right; second photo from the top).
I wonder if this purple panel folds down and connects to Soundwave's back? Looks about the right size, and would make sense (also explains why they would have a close-up shot, highlighting what is otherwise a fairly innocuous part of Tryp's body).
    Just a thought.

If LG43 ends up being a darker shade of gray, I may end up going with it. I'm liking the violet and the green more than the Hasbro lavender. Also, the Takara outer leg panels look much darker than they appear, especially in the bottom shot. It doesn't seem overexposed, so that could give a hint regarding the actual shade of grey.

    What do you guys think?

But why feature the Hasbro toy in the article so heavily? Doesn't really make sense.

Besides, Necro/Wipeout could very well be painted, it's just that in this case solid purple with a black head happens to be the character's colors. And Full-Tilt as well has always been all purple. On top of that both already appeared in the preview comic in those exact color schemes.

On second glance, it would appear the gray piece under the purple door folds up and connects. If the purple door folded down to connect, the connection tabs would be visible on it (or so I'd think)

Dunno. But Hasui's interview with Fort Max also used the Hasbro one. It can just be a placeholder until they actually finish the final deco.

Wipeout's eyes are red in the Legends comic. And in the Marvel comics they were white. They can add some paint either way.

Well, the only reason I'd think would be if the Takara deco isn't finished yet, & rather than feature the grey prototype they've used this to show off what Trypticon would look like in colour. Takara have done that before (I think they did that with Fort Max last year actually)

Personally I think it's 50/50 really & I'm just playing devil's advocate, but I'm happy either way. If Takara has a much better paintjob coming up I'm happy to pay the extra money for it, and if not I'm more than content to save the cash & go for the Hasbro version. Either way it's a win!

Maybe Takara's holding off on showing the finished product until they've scoped out fan websites (like this one), to see how the fandom reacts? Maybe they are planning to then adjust the final colours accordingly?

For me, I'm quite happy to go Hasbro this time (I've got him on pre-order for AUS$160 shipped - which is roughly US$120 - so no complaints here!!!)
