I am asking myself what there is to gain from updated micromaster toys.
I like the G1 micromasters and their bases but i honestly dont see hasbro doing any better.
In fact articulation may actually be lost in updated micromaster toys, unless they do them at least at legion class, wich would make them not really micromasters anymore.

 

84/5/6 characters at Micromaster size is what's to be gained. For my money Micromaster would have worked better with some existing characters in there, Hasbro was just getting into the idea of bringing characters back when Micromasters started (year after PM Prime, same year as Pretender Classics, year before Action Masters). That and a bit more publicity for the ability to link the bases up would have helped the idea.

I can't see anything worth doing with most Micromaster characters as such, although I won't say no to Flattop from Broadside, but the idea of small Transformers working with larger Transformers who form connecting bases has got mileage.

 

Do y'all think it's possible to see the Pretenders come back?

I certainly hope so. I know they get a lot of hate, but I loved the pretenders as a kid. I think Pincher was my favorite. It really shouldn't be too difficult - have the inner bots be Legends, and the shells be Voyagers. We probably wouldn't get the full line-up, but we'd get articulated bots with reasonably articulated shells. It'd probably be best to have the bots just plug in, instead of splitting the shell though.

And maybe even carry it over to Leader size, to make the bigger pretenders whose shells transformed.

 

I tell you, rework Pretenders as "Armor-Up Figures" or something and you can do them and micromasters in the same line.

Have the Titan Masters become Micromasters sized figures in a two pack called Armor Masters that can store inside a full sized robot that transforms into a larger version of the Armor Master's vehicle mode.

So it becomes
Armor Masters - Two pack of Micromaster characters
Deluxe - Regular pretenders with one small robot and one vehicle (Or animal for the Beast pretenders) to robot shell
Voyager - Mega pretenders that can combine with their Armor Master to form a third vehicle like a superjet or something.
Leader - Ultra Pretender characters that have triple changing shells.
Titan Class Omega Supreme - His head becomes a Headmaster-ish thing in homage to energon Omega. Tank to robot to Head, stores an armor Master figure.
Armor Master is omega, and then he controls the Omega Supreme body.

Fictionally the Armor Master shells would be like Mech Suits. "Forced to lower their energon consumption, the Transformers adopt energy efficient bodies and continue their war in all NEW Transformers: Armor Up figures! Each Armor Up figure includes one Armor Master who pilots a converting battle suit!"

Basically a line-wide Minimus Ambus-ing.

 

Only if Minimus Ambus was their god.

The real question is how does one de-headmaster them?

I would agree that new Micromasters the same size would likely not be improved over their original iterations so what is the point? This may not be what we get though because you would think they would know this as well. Then again...

I actually like the Headmasters we are getting if they would just give them a basic amount of paint so they don't look like $.25 toys that come in a plastic bubble out of a dispenser. I have warmed to the idea of everyone being a Headmaster since the line has so much cross functionality and well done homages.

Ideally i'm hoping for the 6 first year pretenders, the six guys Bludgeon and Pincher where among and the three mega pretenders with Black shadow and Blue bacchus from takara.

 

They already redid micro masters and it made them a shit load of money that went on to fund the Bay movies. After mini-cons, they won't go back to micro masters. They'll go back to mini-cons first.

 

Slugslinger and Misfire are actually pretty ugly in my opinion. They looked neat at first but Slugslinger's hanging wings and both of their heads are absolute turn offs. It's not even an accuracy thing — I just think they look bad. That's unfortunate too because the Triggerhappy toy is one of my favorites.

 

I want them! But when do they release them? Dec 2017 hmm wait and wait....

Personally I think the Micromasters / pretenders should be bigger than headmasters, but smaller than wheelie, Cosmos, etc...

 

KS is basically saying that Microns/Minicons were Micromasters.
