I love my orcs. And I love listening to you guys. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Mythic Legions. Though I was hoping you'd share what you liked with ML2. Seth, I recommend you read Liefield's greatest creation, Supreme. Only because it was the vehicle for Alan Moore's epic third party Superman story. I have no idea why I like Brigade though, but I do...
Personally, I'm sitting out on the upcoming Masterpiece Megatron, because I REALLY hope he gets re-released in silver colors & have a proper dark purple Decepticon symbol. As MP Primal was released in toy colors, I have hope. Plus, what other color scheme are they going to release him in otherwise? Safety Megatron? I think if he were silver & had a proper Decepticon symbol, he might look better with the prior Masterpiece toys. As is, he really contrasts.
I'm on the one figure per character train. Yeah, I get it, if two figures are massively different why not enjoy both? For me though? Neat engineering and design is a nice bonus but not why I collect. I collect to have physical representation of characters I have an attachment to. And that means I'm really only interested in one figure per character.
Listening back to this episode I notice I completed Combiner Wars Megatron with an upgread kit to Titans Return Astrotrain when I meant Titans Return Blitzwing and that STILL HAS NOTTING TO DO with Combiner Wars Megatron. I wish I could say I had been drinking or something but I'm just stupid.
Huh??? This post makes no sense. Did you mean confused instead of completed? Also Titans Return Blitzwing isn't even out yet. Were you hitting the sauce when you wrote this post?
I got the black hrabban, he struck my fancy and the line's alright if you get just one. Admittedly, he's best standing proud like some sort of gatekeeper. Still want the matching wings, not being able to get them haunted me. I'm not going to go crazy with mythic legends. All I want is Lucrecia and a female vampire, maybe 2. And a couple lady knights for them to smack around, maybe 3. And both sides weapon sets. And, oh...dear.
I wish, I was at work and trying to post quick while no one was yelling at me. In the show what I was trying to say that an upgraded Megatron would be good on you Titans Return self so it would look less like Blitzwing. Listening to the show I realized I said Astrotrain when I meant Blitzwing but Blitzwing is also wrong because the upgraded Megatron was from a different line so it wouldn't look like TR Blitz in the first place. I was and probably still am very confused.
That's the thing with Liefield characters, when he "creates" them they are cheep knock offs of established characters. It's on other people come along later and make them more original. Only then do any of them get any good.
I'm sorta a one figure per character person, but with an even more depressing twist: I'm a transformers fan who cares about scale. The way I do it, I have a "shelf" for each aesthetic and broadly similar scale. So, for example, I've got the 1:32-ish movie "shelf" with all the deluxe autobots and leader decepticons, I've got a 1:32-ish classic "shelf" which was pretty much just a classics Autobots display until Combiner Wars gave us Megatron and Menasor, plus I've got some smaller (and actually shelf-sized) displays of 1:60-ish classic characters, 1:60-ish movie figures, a prime shelf that, well, can't do much about, a human alliance shelf, and a "Cybertronian" shelf that I just put all the misfits on to duke it out. God, I have too many toys. Anyways, near as I've seen, most masterpiece doesn't quite line up perfectly with the classics stuff, especially as "masterpiece" and "classics" are both huge umbrellas under which a ton of really different concepts and aesthetics exist. The early classics stuff is really Cybertron inspired, then there was the movie-influenced Universe 2.0, then Generations/RTS which married the two influences with dense, almost organic levels of mechanical detailing, then Combiner Wars which swerved much more in the direction of chunky G1 robots with big 50s robot mechanics. And in Masterpiece, there's the almost bespoke aesthetics of the early releases with Optimus the big cuddly version of how you remember the original toy, Starscream the Macross model kit, Megatron the first draft CAD model, Grimlock the oversized G1 KO, Rodimus Prime: The Revenge of Floro Dery, before they started slotting into more designer-driven aesthetics. All that said... MP Megatron 2 seems to comfortably straddle the Cartoon/Toy divide in the same way MP-10 does, so if that's the Optimus you're looking to match, I say go for it. If you're trying to match him up with one of the many other Primes, though, god who knows. I'd just save the money for something else, but that's just me.
Vangelus, I really agree with your assessment of Cheetor, especially the whiskers. Really annoys me. And even if you just remove the beast head, his torso looks really gappy, it\'s not very nice. Also, loved what you and Seth said about big expensive boxs and the excuse that it was all preorders never sounding true. So relatable...
