Steelbane is indeed the "First Knight" based on Toy Fair 2017 information.

However, I don't see Dragonstorm's quote as indicating he's not the Last Knight. On the contrary, I think that makes it more likely than if he said nothing of Knights at all. Dragonstorm certainly could be the Last Knight if he is talking about himself in third person. I can definitely see a medieval dragon Transformer talking about himself in third person.

 

I hope he doesn't say that about himself. It would make him seem arrogant and self-centered. Not good traits for an ancient Autobot.

Besides, I'm still convinced that either Megatron or Bumblebee will be the last knight. At least of Bee is upgraded to knight, it could make a good reason for his rumored voyager class toy.

 

It could just be a speech pattern for all you know, like Wheelie's rhyming, Shrapnel's repetition, or Yoda's strange syntax. That wouldn't automatically make him selfish.

 

It would make him stupid and unoriginal.

 

Or it's just some kind of ancient formal saying he uses, like "By the will of the last knight, I grant you dibs on the first doughnut of the box." Sorta like a "by the power invested in me" kinda deal. Without context it's a little rash to outright assume his entire character from an isolated piece of text.

 

Not any stupider than most things in a brand whose fiction is designed to sell toys. If anything it would fit perfectly within the cheesy, campy nature of the brand.

SPLIT LIP has the right idea. He may not be the First Knight, but he very well may be and use some formalities.

 

That to some campy cheesy "nature" should not be an excuse to make things worse and be boring, repetitive and tropy and eschew real creative thinking.

But i agree SPLIT LIP is probably right and that would be the sensible reason for him to talk like that.
