Lose the shoulder pads and add guns and it actually looks a little how I imagined PM Optimus Prime in bot mode would look. Alt modes don't come close though.

I picked mine up today at a local Target. What interesting is the box has a deception logo, where my Autobots have their logo in their place. I wonder if their design template has both logos and the box designer made a mistake.

 

I thought so too, except Broadside also has the same issue, so perhaps all the boxes are Decepticon versions as of Wave 3?

Anyway, the real reason I am here, minor update!

Someone mentioned I had the wings wrong, so I've added a group of pics showing the "correct" wing position:



I actually prefer the "wrong" configuration. There's some extra molded detail on show which is otherwise hidden under the armatures, and the top of the truck cab is a little better concealed.

Also, for those wanting a shot of the body without head / with the horns retracted, I've done that too:

 

Did no one notice that all the boxes had Autobot logos until now?

 

I love the amount of homages to other Optimus figures. The jet mode of one of the prototype Powermasters, the legs(Colors and sculpt imo) of Armada, hell even a bit of RiD15. He's just a fun figure to look at and fiddle with.

 

It's amazing how much better Octane's jet mode looks than Optimus'.
