Let me put it this way: Back in 1994, would you have described the Liege Maximo as a Hasbro character? Personally, I wouldn't have. I'd have described him as a Marvel character. That's changed in the subsequent years with the introduction of the Aligned Continuity, but back then, Hasbro wouldn't have been part of the equation in my mind.

It's like Rung today. I would never describe him as a Hasbro character. He's an IDW character, despite, as you say, Hasbro owning all original characters. Do they own a trademark on the name?

 

You realize the only releasing marvel owns circuit breaker and deaths head is because marvel rushed out stories for them outside of transformers. If they hadn't done that and they appeared in transformers hasbro would have owned them. By that logic liege Maximo and delta Magnus are legally owned by hasbro. Same with rung, idw and Roberts hold no ownership of characters created under their stewardship of the license

Yes I know the Beast Machines/Dinobots toys were popular here, but Takara makes MPs based on the Japanese market where that line didn't exist, so I doubt there's any real market for it with Japanese collectors.

 

I'm amazed no one touched upon the fact that T-Wreck's toy bio implies him to be Grimlock. He is mentioned as having BW Grimlocks former function. I can see Takara running with that and redubbing him as a future version of Grimlock.

 

The bm dinobots were originally meant to be the original dinobots but for whatever reason they changed the names
