I don't know if it's just me, but I can't see any of the photos in your post.

I had the same break! Was unable to get a replacement part but was able to drill a small hole and superglue a bit of metal wire in the peg shaft and head to hold it together. Filed the knee rachet down so it is much looser to prevent a rebreak. It's.been fine since. I put pictures up somewhere. Maybe in Radicons?

Would you have a tool to remove the grey broken mushroom bit? If you could get that out then I would epoxy glue or use ABS glue to glue the broken parts back together. Once that's dried, use a mini drill or pin vise to drill a hole and insert a thick wire/rod to serve as internal support. That's how I would try it, if no replacement parts are available to you.

I think it should be easy to fix this, just find a proper screw to replace the grey broken mushroom head, that will be strong enough.

I had that same break as well. Took a long while to get a replacement even back then. I like this set, but I don't touch this set anymore because I feel it is more fragile than other MT stuff I own.

I've transformed sonic drill back and forth quite a few times without issue now, but now that I'm aware of this potential weak point it's definitely gonna snap on mine the next time I transform him.

I broke the same piece on SonicDrill's left leg.
I contacted Maketoys and they sent a replacement leg up to that knee joint about 2 months after my initial email.
You can also order a replacement knee from Shapeways: Maketoys Quantron Sonic Drill Knee Replacement by chromahands on Shapeways

Damn you guys it is my 1st year anniversary with Quantron. I better get replacement parts in advance before I transform Sonic Drill again!

Thanks for the link... I ordered this and contacted Maketoys... Fingers crossed they send a replacement, but in the meantime, the shapeways one hopefully works.

Also, sorry for jinxing everybody! I hope the pictures showed exactly what to watch for... I definitely would think about shaving down the notch in that ratchet...

    You're welcome.
Just be careful when you go to pop the broken knee joint out, the pin was a bit hard to take out on my sonic drill

So, any luck getting getting a replacement leg from maketoys?

Also, has anyone tried the eness decal set for quantron? It supposedly takes inspiration from the original g1 toy stickers, but I can't seem to find any good close up pictures of the finished look.

"Nosecone" looks good, but the leg snapping doesn't sound good :(

It's a matter of how you apply the force to pose/transform his knees. They detent rather stiffly, so if you hold the leg further down rather than at the knee joint directly, it's possible to overstress the mushroom peg instead. I've transformed mine a bajillion times with no signs of trouble. It's not a particularly fragile design.

I just bought a Quantron. First time with this mold.

I quite like it, but I'm TERRIFIED at the leg transformation for Overheat (the motorcycle).

Is there any reason why I shouldn't open up the leg and remove that darn spring?

It's pretty strudy, just lift at both ends and it should be fine. I've never had an issue.

You'd have to do a bit of extra work for him to function properly without the springs. The parts are very loose without the springs to hold them to their snapped-in locations.

Thanks for the link! I just had mine snap a few weeks ago and was rather bummed out about it.

I removed the springs. They were just TOO tight. Even when I grip it on both ends, I'm bending the plastic. It gets better if I grip it from nearer the center, but it's so hard to get a nail or tool under there because the spring is so tight.

It's actually just fine without the springs. Doesn't affect anything in motorcycle or arm mode.

When Overheat himself is in robot mode, since he's standing most of the time and it's a swiveling joint, friction and gravity take care of things and the parts stay in place. I put a smidge of clear nail polish on the rod that used to be propped up by the spring. It still stands better than some actual Hasbro figures (most versions of Movie Sideswipe and Movie Soundwave, ROTF Sideways, etc).
