EMS to Australia is 3,700 Yen. Total incl shipping is ~A$460, cheapest on ebay is ~$540.

Well that's not too bad. I'd go for it if I didn't already have one.

Haha same! Although surprised that the Eva Prime doesn't command more that one at least has the trailer which makes it more reasonable :p

Nippon-yasan really trys to rip people off in a sneaky fashion. I went to checkout and it said USD for this item it would be $367 shipped but in yen it was only $342 shipped. So they try to really hit you if they convert it for you before checkout.

Thats just due to your settings. All sites do this when they have their own exchange rates. Paypal does it too. Just buy it in Yen and let your credit card do the conversion.

Yes, I know paypal does it automatically but it is rather small. Nippon changing it by $25 is a big difference.

As far as I know you cannot pay in yen with your credit card through paypal because it converts it for you automatically at checkout unless i'm wrong and someone could tell me how to change it....

It's buried in the settings menu of your account details, but you can assign any card to be either paid by it directly using foreign currency, or let PayPal do it. I can't remember how I did it, but I do remember it's not easy to find it. I had to use the help page on their website.

Just make sure your credit or debit card doesn't have a foreign transaction fee...

Mine came in the other day. Probably the best of the three color-wise. And a much more solid feeling figure than Hasbro's SG-Prime.

Ditto. I got both of these yesterday actually and they both look great. I can definitely see this one rising in price later on. It would be nice to know how many of these bape primes they actually made.

Considering the person I bought mine from had six... I'd say as many as they thought they could sell.

With all these resellers having multiples, makes me wonder how the releases are handled, one per customer or a free for all...

Hey, even if they did do one/person...all you have to do is get 10 people and say "I'll give you $50 USD to stand in line and buy one for me". You'd still make a significant profit. Students are cheap labour may have been on school holidays during the time this went on sale.

    Just a possibility.

I'd like to consider myself as a collector. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on the first two and not willing to fork out the prices that they're demanding. I don't think it would be worth it to buy at the current rates and wait a few years for them to increase in value, not to me at least.

Agreed, the green and red bape's seem to disappear fast on ebay and with it the price going up. This gray seems to be the opposite.
Collector myself, since I was able to get the Green one at a "affordable price" thanks to a buddy board member of mine I had to get the rest of the Bapes as well :(

Not sure who this comment was directed at, so figured I would dive in...

Hard to scalp something that you are already buying at what amounts to a market driven premium. Maybe (but unlikely) that there is some ability to buy one of these from one of the Japanese sites then sell it at a premium in the US, but any chance of that gets destroyed by proxy fees, shipping fees, and/or ebay fees. Now if we were in Japan on the morning these were released and could purchase multiple copies at MSRP, maybe a different story... lol

There is probably more talk about the price of this because of the history of the MP-10 BAPE releases jumping in price. However, anyone who pays $350-$450 for one of these with the intention of selling them for a profit would probably be considered more of a speculative collector versus a scalper. There is no sure thing with these - or any piece of plastic with no intrinsic value that is 100% arbitrarily valued on the secondary market. It isn't like buying a cart full of Masterpiece Grimlocks at TRU for $60 to then turn around and sell for $120.

Personally, I am simply an MP collector completionist, so not a scalper. I know several others on this thread have been collecting these since the initial MP-10A Green BAPE thread. So they are probably not scalpers either.

You asked "what's the deal, exactly"? What do you mean? About this specific MP version? Collecting in general? Kind of a vague question.
