That windblade is totally a wrong colored maxima from the combiner wars animation

 

Both Maximus and Windblad had face guards.

 

HasTak needs to make her from the TAV/RID mold STAT!


edit: And TakTom needs to make a Slipstream remold of the TAV/RID mold as well.

 

I know they did but maxima left hers on   I know the head isn't really accurate to the animation but it'll make a decent standin for now

Well, Hasbro established early on in I think their press conference introducing RID2015, that in being a continuation of TF Prime, it was in the same universe as Prime and Rescue Bots (and also the games, WfC & FoC).

Personally, I agree with you though, that the look could've been updated a little more. The head isn't really working for me... Would've preferred slightly more G1 homage.

 

Why does everything have to be g1 though? We literally just got a g1 blurr that looks like it walked off the 86 movie screen.

 

love that they are tying in Rescue bots with RID but I too want more of a g1 homage and quite frankly my boy does too.

I just dont understand why they cant make a regular cartoon featuring the CHUG/Combiner Wars/ Titan Returns/power of the primes line.

You're right. Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be G1, but I think the head/styling we got is pretty bland. Even for RID2015 bland. Maybe at least like Animated he could've had a long headspike or something. That said, I'm strongly opposed to random name appropriation ala Michael Bay. A character with a certain name has to look more or less a certain way. Otherwise, just create a new character. This Blurr I think at least checks that box by being blue/light blue and a sleek race car.

AMEN! I agree completely. That Machinima shit pissed me off so much, talk about a half-assed effort. Story/format/styling/voices none of it was up to snuff IMO. Anyway, if Dreamworks can make a new Voltron for Netflix, then someone (Paramount/Dreamworks/Hasbro Studios) could surely make a bad-ass Netflix show for us as well... sigh. Although if it does get realized, I personally would prefer they draw more from G1 or the original Marvel comics than from IDW. Not a fan of the IDW universe in general.

Just looking at mine tonight, up close under a bright light, I don't believe this one is a new head at all, as the ridges on the top and sides of the head are exactly the same, as is the forehead molding.
I think it is just painted around the eyes, and I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the face is just painted black to hide the very subtly molded mouth on the original (the mouth was only obvious on the original because they were left it red on the white-painted face). Having it all painted black, I think it will hide the mouth enough to not notice it unless looking closely at it or touching it.
As for the back of the head, for some reason they have it separate at the bottom of the packaging next to her leg... which I didn't even realize it could be remove on the original (which it does). So with the head piece removed, and a black-painted face, it makes the head look like a new mold, but all of the sculpted details on the top and sides of the head are exactly the same as the original Windblade toy.

 

The headpiece comes removed in the original release, I just bought her and had to plug it in myself

 

Ya dawg! I love TakaraTomy's Adventure line. I'm BIG on collecting screen bots whether it's movie, kiddie cartoon, or the main cartoon I'm all for it! Less so on comic but still at least it has a place, and not so much on filler characters. I try then to look into the future and see if that character is going to end up in media in the future or not.

Well, that's what you get when you let someone else open up your toys when traveling overseas.... I can see in my photo that the original one is indeed packed without the headpiece attached.
Makes me wonder why it has it anyway.
Because of that, I definitely think it is the same head mold, just colored to hide the mouth and to highlight the eyes.

 

I do like the new packaging. Your right it looks good I ALWAYS like Hasbro packaging over TakaraTomy (other then high end) but TT obviously, in most cases, is a better figure. I was just giving ya hell so maybe you look at my text next time lol
