Robotmode is interesting, Altmode is amazing and i hope we get some Decepticon transport drones from it somehow.
I am looking forward very much to the Takara version but i allready like the way this looks.

 

Nah, the Generations Kup is awesome, especially with the iGear head. I'm anxiously awaiting the Takara version. You know, the one that'll have paint. The only reason I'm not sold on the Hasbro one is that cruddy color choices and the lack of paint. Why the almost black head? He has a blue head on the card art. And their Blurr coloring was total bollocks.

 

I'm not a fan of the dark grey head. But it's supposed to be imitating the G1 toy and the Marvel comics incarnations of Kup.

With that said, he'll still be an awesome stand in for Kup until the Takara version comes out.

 

Everything about this Kup is awesome...except that dark head. Crap!!! It's CW Bruticus all over again. I'm sick of paying import prices to get these minor color changes that happens to be important to me.

Glad to see he's grey vs black, as expected. Definitely getting.

 

I'm really looking forward to this figure. Wave 4 or 5? I kinda fell off after wave three as far as who comes in what wave. Can someone let me know?

Wow. Maybe I'm not excited for this mold as crosshairs.
Those arms are... weird. To say the least. He kind of feels like his limbs are just all from different figures.

 

thats a good way to put it. he feels really non-cohesive to me, and the "armored" look on his alt mode feels really off for Kup. Perhaps if they do him as Crosshairs that color scheme will make a difference. he's still so lanky front-to-back though...

 

The face is growing on me a little in these pictures, although I imagine Rocky Balboa's voice coming out of that face more than Kup's.

Everything else, I am either fine with or actually like. Robot mode is decent and vehicle mode is excellent. But I can't believe this is the figure Hasbro decides they must paint the rims of. Not Hot Rod. Really...?

The vehicle mode is on the mark, but I find the robot mode surprisingly boring. The G1 toy and cartoon model mixed straight lines, slopes and curves (like the wheel arches that made up the shoulders). This toy is mostly parallel box shapes. TR Kup is just too much of a (near-literal) square.

 

That's a fairly decent Crosshairs.

 

Wave 3 had two each of the new molds, then only had *one* of the Getaway (repaint) and tossed in an extra Hot Rod to round out the case.
Wave 4 will likely have two each of the three new molds, and then one each of the repaints (Quake, Krok).

It makes sense that Wave 1 and 2 had two each because they were all new molds. Hasbro is likely trying to avoid CWs inevitable mold fatigue (which was hard to avoid w/out shortpacking limbs) by shortpacking repaints (at least at the deluxe pricepoint).

Side effect is people who may not care about characters get another shot at an older (and pretty popular) mold, collectors get a lesser known or relatively more obscure character, and being shortpacked adds artificial scarcity to appease scalpers.

Ironically, everyone wins.

 

Or they go super retro and we get a new Orion Pax (reusing Apex from PMOP).


Added bonus: Oh hai Dion. Toss in Blurr as Ariel and fancy Alpha Trion and you've got a Golden Age box set to kick off "Power of the Primes".

 

I might just pass on this and get the Generations Kup from a few years ago.

EDIT: The guns are cool though but the toy doesn't look that good :/

 

The whole "5-Deluxes" thing is throwing me off. The last time we, technically, had that was the very-much-hated Walgreens-Exclusive Brainstorm. Although I wouldn't know which wave you would count him as. Could that be a possibility here too?

Plus the smaller size classes are seriously lacking Decepticons, while the larger classes don't have many Autobots. It's just like CW actually. Is that important at all or just some neat little trivia?
