As I've said in the past fortnight, announcing BW MP Megs just as Primal is released would be a great way to capitalise on momentum.

 

How much magic would it take to pull off an MP Tarantulus? Specifically how would they pull off the show accurate beast mode that Boss Monkey and The Cheet imply he would have.?

 

I was writing about that very issue a few pages back.
'The spiders may cause less trouble if you could make their bulbous beast mode butts using several hinged panels which fold away into themselves to create the flat robot back and the robot legs would be stored inside the hollow butt in beast mode with arms simply tucked underneath.'
The big butt is the only real issue and I think you could have 4 or 5 curved pieces to produce the raised butt and one flatter piece underneath which would then become the bot mode back. So the curved bits fold away behind each other like shutters or something and then the bottom piece comes up to snap into place and keep the other parts locked inside the robot body concealed between the back and chest pieces.
I can see it working in my head so I'm certain TT can find a brilliant way to do it.

 

Right, I was inspired to try and sketch out my idea but now I feel it may not be so simple. Really makes me excited to see TT tackle the issue though. I think I'm on the right track but just don't actually have a clue what I'm doing!
If my blueprint makes sense then see if anyone can refine the process.
The red lines indicate part of a panel underneath as I have them all overlapping. That's seemed the simplest way not to have any gaps show.

 

Yeah, I could easily see most of the ass containing the robot. I don't think it'd be one entire shell, though. I could see TakTom incorperating the robot thighs into the abdomen much like the original toy, but for a more effective shape. Like Cheetor isn't a shellformer, he just really cleverly moves parts to cover the interior robot bits.

I've been reading a lot of prediction during the past pages. Is there going to be an Announcement soon?

How are we supposed to know when an announcement is coming? Are TT supposed to announce they've got an announcement coming up?

 

There's no real clues as to anything official happening. We're just all getting overly excited because Primal is nearly here and that would be a great opportunity for TT to announce another figure to keep our interest up. As if we need any help with that!

In the Cheetor thread, I remember there being a few days notice before the official announcement so we somehow knew it was coming... Then followed the whole debacle as to whether or not the beast mode silhouette shown was of the figure or the cgi model coz we couldn't believe the figure could ever look so show accurate. Good times even if it did turn out to be the show model.

 

But then MP-36 Megatron comes out of the blue today. No hints, no nothing. Just a straight-up announcement, complete with coloured pics.

 

Indeed. I'd probably prefer that method. Most likely means less waiting time from announcement to release. Primal has been an excruciatingly long wait and I was late to the party with that one.

 

I sincerely doubt they will announce G1 Megatron one week and BW Megs the next, they tend to space out big announcements (apart for last year when news of Shockwave and Hot Rod dropped at the same time). I wouldn't be surprised if they have a BW Megatron design at some point of development but are waiting to pull the trigger on him until they get some sales figures back on Primal.

In short we don't, but there are signs. TT employ a bunch of different methods to get the news out. Sometimes its done ad one of the big Japanese toy shows (Cheetor was reveal at one) so we know it's likely/have or fingers crossed for an MP announcement, sometimes we're expecting a reaval of one toy (Ironhide) and we get anoher as a bonus (Primal), Sometimes they randomly post a silhouette on their twitter (again we got one of those for Cheetor), Sometimes a grey prototype is leaked and TT like to leave it at that for a while before confirming its real, and then there are the hobby magazines like Figure King that often give us our first full colour images/confirm rumours or leaked images...a la G1 Megatron. In short theres no real rhyme or reason to it but if there's a toy show of hobby magazine coming up MP fans start to get twitchy and start speculating.

So G1 Megatron didn't come out of the blue at all, the entire MP community has been itching and hoping for the grey prototype leaked a few weeks back to be confirmed and many had speculated that the upcoming hobby magazine would reveal/confirm. I'm not sure anyone expected images so close to the finished product though.

 

well i'm in for hoping they will announce BW Megs though.... and somewhere i think they'll have an early prototype ready to

 

Agreed they did take forever to remake G1 Megs and surely i understand the delay but what would Primal be without his Nemesis

Does my wallet want to see one in the same year as G1 MP Megatron? Hell no.
