Ah, I'd missed that detail earlier.

Because scale is so wibbly-wobbly in G1, I've chosen to believe that the "MP" scale is similar to G1 toy scaling -- combiner components are smaller than MP leaders, and they combine into something bigger than MP leaders.

And while we are talking personal preferences, for a moment, Constructor is just too darn big for my lifestyle. With five people in the home already, we'd prefer for our toys to take up less space than an actual human. ;-)

But, we are in a golden age of transforming robot toys these days, so I suspect you may get your wish eventually, especially if Constructor sells well.

Never expected to see a pic that made me think Feral Rex looked small, nevermind one that also made Warbotron Bruticus seem small as well!
Guess I'd never really appriciated just how big Metroplex is.
    Great pic though :)

TFCs Defensor fits the scale well. He looks good with the rest of them. Guardia is too small. More CW sized.

These guys are in no way shape or form MP in any sense.

They are not MP in individual mode, and they aren't MP in combined mode. They are also not MP in construction quality and fit/finish.

This guy is an absolutely lovely large chug/voyager scale combiner. Scales perfectly with the likes of TW Orion, MMC's feralcons, Impactor, DJD bots and hasbro's Generations Brainstorm, Jetfire etc.

"Chug" isn't a dirty word and no need to shoehorn (though place whatever you want wherever you please); multiple collections are fun.

Holy personal opinion Batman. MP is whatever people think works in their MP sized collections. Any other opinion is purely subjective and implies people can somehow "collect wrong". Ugh.

Exactly why in my own post that you quoted yourself, I mentioned anyone is free to do whatever they want. To each their own. Your opinion doesn't effect me, nor should mine yours.

But most of it was not opinion actually, it was factual. Especially considering the scale chart.

These barely look like their G1 counterparts. They are not in the same aesthetic nor construction quality of other 3P MP figures or even official figures.

They do not scale correctly in individual mode (they should be half a head shorter than MP-11 -- like the TW constructicons).

They also do not scale correctly in combined mode (I find it funny when FT releases their Skyfire, he will be able to look these voyager scales combiners in the eye).

I am seriously not sure why "CHUG" is such a dirty word around here. It's like you'd only somehow like the figures if you tell yourself they're "MP" - because if somehow not - you don't want them a part of your collection.

I find that all very odd. But again, to each their own.

When it comes down to overall looks, they obviously don't fit the MP style.
Size, however, doesn't matter. You mention FT's Skyfire, who's scale shifted all over the place in the toons. They are all capable of mass shifting (and bad animating lol). Devastator went from fitting inside a plane to towering over buildings. Megatron went from being able to be held by Starscream to being taller than him. "Scale" is matter of perspective that is relative to your own personal collection.

If people want to use these in their MP displays, then so be it. You are no one to say otherwise.

Guardia does not fit here. Guardia is made by MT, and scales with Giant (who is a bit undersized), Intimidator, Quantron, and the FP Bruticus upgrade set. Gravity Builder is designed to fit in with Warbotron's Bruticus, Computron, and TFM's Menasor. The combiners in this series are a good 2~3 inches taller than the MT/FP line.

This is brought up time and time again. We all know how Galvatron flew inside of Cyclonus and how Ultra Magnus picked up the constructicons.

This arguement is used time and time again for deflection. If that is the case, why try have a consistant scale at all? FT may as well start producing deluxe size masterpiece figures (like say their own Delxue MP-10) and screw it - they should make their upcoming Skyfire voyager scaled. Why not?

    Except no.

Again. You're free to place whatever you want, wherever you want. This doesn't change that fact that these guys are in no way shape or form in any sense masterpiece.

If you think they look like "masterpieces" (like Leonardo da Vinci's artwork) then that's just dandy.

But they lack great overall construction quality (the KO's are better), their aesthetic is off and their size is off (both individually and combined).

Again. It's like "CHUG" is a dirty word here. I seriously don't understand the whole "MP or go home" mentality of so many users here. You find out something isn't MP and you automatically dislike it. And/or try to shoehorn something into MP so you have a reason to like it.

EDIT: Just FYI, I have and love this set. I am not trying to bash it at all and he is the most stable combiner I have ever owned. You can read my praises throughout this thread even. He looks lovely in my IDW/voyager scaled chug collection.

Speaking personally, I'm into CHUG stuff mainly for the combiners, as I consider them to be in a different scale of their own. However, I also have an "MP or go home" attitude toward my main collection. The reason is not because I hate on CHUG stuff but more because I don't have unlimited room and budget. Given these constraints, I feel that an MP collection is what I want to focus on, otherwise my collection would grow too big too fast.

But honestly, Honesty... Why do you feel the need to CHUGtify everything out of another's masterpiece collection?

Only true MP's come from Hasbro and takara, if we are to go by a be all end all argument.

If something is of the same size/height as a masterpiece, is recognizable as a character from G1, and has yet to be released from any official channel ATM, where is the fault in it being in a masterpiece collection?

Most certainly warbotron is not chug scaled, but masterpiece... Even if the aesthetic isn't strictly adhered to G1.

Nobody cares where you want them to place their figures... honestly.

Is it? If that were the case I'm pretty confident we would have bots bigger than what we got. For example we have Brawl who is a full size bot, but is smaller than Wardog who is suppsoed to be a mini-bot. I think many display these with their MP scaled collection as there are (or were) no other options when it comes to combiners, but that doesn't necessarily make them MP-scaled. I feel whatever TW gives us for a Superion and Bruticus will be more appropriately MP scaled than what has been previously defined by the Warbotron scaled combiner. Their Devistator is a good example of that. Gravity builder fits in well with the 15" sized Warbo scaled combiners and while it will look ok on an MP shelf, it's no where as appropriate as what we get with Constructor. I also think so many in this fandom get hung up on the term "masterpiece" and whether it defines a line, a scale, or an aesthetic.

Just want to make sure I follow some of the reasoning here. We all agree that the MP cars that fit inside MP10's trailer are MP, right? Even though they're SO MUCH smaller than Prime in 'bot mode?

If that's the case, why are we acting like a height *between* an MP Car and MP-10 *isn't* an acceptable size for a combiner limb? It seems like come folks feel that every combiner limb MUST be as big as MP-10 in order to be MP.

Combiner limbs were WAY smaller than Prime in G1 (toys at least), and it's completely okay if people enjoy that scaling and want to recreate it.

Using language implying that that choice is *wrong* (even if you the add the caveat that it's 'just your opinion' or 'people can do whatever') is completely unhelpful and contributes to discord.

The fact that Warbotron is as tall as two MP-10s seems juuuuust right to me. And I don't care if the cartoon made all the limbs grow to twice their original size when they combined. I choose to ignore that they change in size, just like you might choose to ignore the fact that the original toys were waaayyyy out of scale compared to combined animation models. That doesn't make either of us wrong.

I'm not comparing these figures to their original G1 toy selves. I am comparing them to the scale chart and how they were depicted 90% of the time on screen.

On the scale chart/animation the constructicons and Bruticus members were half a head shorter than MP-11. Same with the Superion members.

Could you imagine masterpiece aerial bots being smaller than MP-11 in jet mode also?

A combiner should also only be as big as the sum of all its parts. There is no such thing as 80's space magic mass shifting.

If each of these members were half a head shorter than MP-11, they would then create a lager combiner than what we have here. Especially if Onslaught was MP-10 sized.

ToyWorld for instance, went a step further and added a waist/thigh piece which gives Devastator even more height. This was done very well in my opinion. Though their aesthetic choices will turn some off with the Studio-Ox styling.

I'm not trying to dismiss anyone's feelings or opinions. This is just my 2 cents on the matter as I actually like scale consistency and having multiple collections. I also don't want a MP Skyfire that will look my voyager chug scaled combiners in the eye :)

Anybody who firmly believes in the "holy scale chart" crap is going on blind faith to begin with.

I actually HATE the scale chart, as it has ultra magnus who is a tractor AND a trailer transform into barely being taller than optimus, who in essence is basically just the cab of ultra magnus in mass.

Mass shifting should have simply been chalked up to animation error, instead of being relied upon to quell a scale debate, and negate that blasted flawed chart.

Onslaught and motormaster as big as mp10, perfect...

Stunticon cars as big as carbots, again perfect.

Combaticon limbs have always been out of scale with each other, so scale them all in bot height to carbots... Perfectly acceptable.

Constructions... Come on. Real life size comparisons of a small Crane truck compared to optimus is still larger by itself... So a devastator that is larger than the other combiners only makes sense.

Wanting all combiners to be the same height is still basically animation error, over and over again... Blind faith, again.

Buuuuut, bot mode in mp's is the driving focus for the official masterpiece line... So that makes warbotron bruticus bots masterpiece "scale".

The purists that want mp scaled combiners will again be called out on blind faith when even mp10 can't ride on mp groove in alt mode - but because it is g1, they'll accept it into their collection without a fuss.

Pic because... Well, scale matters. :D
    20160224_144256.jpg

Hook, in the forefront... With a standard tractor trailer combination in the background.

And that's the small version of hook.

You say there's no thing as magic mass shifting, yet Bruts' vehicles themselves HAVE to shift mass in order to even work. A tank is much larger than a hummer and both are smaller than a space shuttle.

You seem to be forgetting that these are toys. Just toys... that are based on a cartoon...
As far as am concerned, they are to scale with real life. Why? Because they only exist as toys in real life and can be whatever I want them to be.
You need to calm down and let everyone enjoy their TOYS as they see fit.

Don't forget that a mining dump truck dwarves every other vehicle but magically it's the same size.
Scale nuts are ridiculous. They're toys ffs

Quickly... Go put g1 brawl next to g1 warpath.

    Who is bigger?

Warpath was only a minibot in toy form.

Now go put wardog next to TT mp ramjet...

Go back and watch an episode where warpath and ramjet are used as horses in a jousting competition back in time... Who's bigger?

Do any of the animation alignments ever really "scale" correctly? Nope, they were a children's cartoon, with mass shifting as the only explanation for being drawn out of proportion from one frame to the next.

I wish there was a company that took this seriously enough to go by alt mode first... We'd see how it should have been from the beginning.
