I remember seeing someone post in the last few weeks or so with a proto of a G1 head? Can't for the life of me find the post though.

 

Yeah, that was me. Sorry guys, I've been crazy busy with work as of late. My post got lost in the board change. Here are the pics of the prototype from my 3D printer. I still have yet to send it out for an SLA print. The head is a blend of the Constructor look with a G1 toon look. It's the same height as the original head, but not nearly as wide. It's in five pieces: 2 faces, 2 part helmet and a battery cover (for those crazy enough to remove the LED set up from the original head and re-soldering into the new head). It fits on to the existing neck and neck plate, it actually snaps together well even without screws. I also included some renders and an evolution of the design pic.

EDIT: 6 pieces, I forgot about the eyepiece for the non-visor face  

Still not sure what I'm doing with it, as of right now I have no means of production, nor the time to make molds and cast it. I think Shapeways may be an option, but I have to look into it, as I am in China.




If that's not 'toon enough for some people, a new company named "Giant Panda Toys" is also planning a head for Constructor. They posted these renders on their Facebook page.

 

Those look fantastic. The Ox head sculpt is actually my least favorite part of the TW set. I really like what you've done.

Translation: G2 Allocater and Burden have been shipped to sellers, the remaining four ship in the beginning of October. The production of new materials takes too long, making everybody wait a long time.

And thanks everybody for the comments on the head. I just finally got some better support material for my printer and I'm going to see if I can run a better quality print this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted on the fate of the head.

 

I hope the production of new materials applies to the G1 green ver 2? It's been a long wait so might as well make it great

 

Hell ya. I've been waiting on the g2....

 

Those g2 boxes look great. I like the earth background almost more than the cybertron one for g1.

Aside from having to force burden's fragile wheel hinges out of the foam, these TW boxes are among my favorite 3p packaging.

 

The packages are pretty similar to Generation Toy with all the black foam. Pretty premium feel - although if they could shave off $5 and send it in a brown coardboard box, I'd probably go for that.. heh.

Maybe they should have optional boxes like they do for Fisher Price stuff. They have 2 types of packaging - nice retail packaging and plain brown cardboard packaging - each are priced accordingly. I guess a pain for vendors to hold inventory but an interesting concept..

I don't even like g2 colors for this guy (or any guy) but will admit he looks impressive in this deco. I may at best replace two of the G1 colors when they redo them if an improvement to the shoulder ratchets has been made.

 

Get the G2 colored guys, then send three of them for repaint, WAY faster   that's what I'm planning to do anyway

And if TW did release proper Diaclone colors, buy again since there are TWO variants of them T_T

 

The green version 2 will have the improved materials, Im holding out for V2 Burden with the fixed issues. I also read these new versions will have improved hands very curious to see what that will look like.


But reading on the delay because of the new materials I wonder if thats the reason why the replacement parts were also delayed.

At last something from TW!
It looks like there's two faces with the G2 Devy head, and also a silver top to his head. I'm a little bit tempted to get G2 Allocator just for the head for my Green set, especially as my CW Devy now has the original TW Devy head.
But then again, Quingtianzhu's design looks soooo nice!
I'd much rather have that!
