I am actually ok with them, they are surprisingly good fun. And while they do have obvious drawbacks I'm not down on them like many over in the Official threads.

But they are oranges to apples with FP's Guys and the fact that a future FP Hardhead would be both bigger and better articulated (probably) would mean I would need both - the Hasbro to fiddle around with and the FP for the shelf with his Bros and Warden.

The Hasbro one looks like a Child when stood with that Guy......

They totally don't match but my Autobot Headmasters foursome will be Hasbro Voyager Brainstorm, Hasbro deluxe TR Chromedome, Toyworld Hardbone (Hardhead) and FP Browning II (Highbrow).

Similar to mine. I was going to get browning as well but decided to get the Hasbro version as I liked the headsculpt better.
Still thinking about getting the TR brainstorm and maybe Takara's hardhead for a better match between them

Finally got him. He kinda had the misfortune of coming with my Crox. A simple but very successful toy. One of his thighs was miss-assembled, or something. The ratcheting plate was skipping out of the body meant to hold it. Easy fix (that let me discover FP actually used cover plates to hide the screws on his glutes, yay!); took it out, squished the spring a bit, reinstalled with the plate turned 180.

After that, the robot mode is superb if you can deal with asymmetry. Probably the most articulated yet (never messed with Sigma-L). His wrists are a little loose but otherwise very strong.

The transformation is an odd duck. Everything but the tail is fairly ambitious, but that is so simple it hurts.

The alt mode is less impressive in person. I don't dislike him, but my first instinct was disappointment. I need to have my way a number of tabs, and I can't tell if a lot of them seem to be just resting in position. Even still, the whole thing is really riddled with gaps and large discordant masses. He's less of a aircraft than a parts fused in that shape... like it was made in a... and that was when I had a thought. Set Highbrow aside and imagine him... orange. And it clicked. I would totally put money down again for that repaint. Because I believe... a Junkion can fly!

Oh right the head! The robot is the cleanest we've had yet, but the head suffers. This one tries to make movable shades and the forehead/back plate is huge to accommodate. Again, this covers everything perfectly in robot mode, but you can tell at the wrong angle it's floating over void. It does have a natural stop in proper configuration, but since none of the Function X heads lock, it's easy to get the huge thing to tip forward and eat his face.

I have the same issue with the head.

But I have to say I love this guy. Better than Crox and Sigma L.

    Though two questions.

    1. Is there supposed to be a gap between his feet/cockpit and main body in helicopter mode? DOesn't look like the feet are flush with the body.

    2. I'm assuming this black "stand" on the bottom of the tail fin in the instructions didn't come with Browning.

Curious, did you paint, or marker Hardbone's faceplate, that looks really good.

Received him and transformed him over the weekend. I was really looking forward to him, but I'm pretty disappointed.

I LOVE the asymmetry! The transformation is pretty tame compared to Smartrobin and especially Code, but it's serviceable. What really steams my clams is that the arms don't peg into the chopper anywhere that I've seen. Seriously?! The gap between the cockpit and body is not ideal, but tolerable, but I really cannot stand the arms not pegging in. There's no reason for that.

The ratcheted joints are a huge plus though.

My biggest letdown with this guy is the lack of rear landing gear to hold up the tail. They could have done SOMETHING with that tail/leg to get landing gear.

Other than that, I like him. He's not the best but not the worst either.

Would you be able to snap a comparison pic between theFunction X guys with their TR counterparts? Curious of the size diff. If they're in a different thread, just let me know. Thanks!

So I guess he didn't come with that stand thing that's in the instructions?

I could not figure out how to get the cockpit and body to close together any neater. If there is a way I'd love to hear/see it.

Yeah, whatever that thing in the pic is, he doesn't come with it.

Hmm. I missed that in the picture. It doesn't look like it's any other part of his body that I can see. There don't seem to be any removable pieces on the leg that forms the tail, and the sculpting doesn't match anywhere else on it. Anyone have any ideas about this? Are we all missing a part?

Not part of the figure. The instruction uses pictures from the prototype. They just happen to use a piece to hold the tail up.

    Instruction booklet - step 25.

I just got my Fansproject Highbrow. Feeling a bit disappointed with it. The cockpit is well done, but the tail and rotors feel lazy and under-engineered. I hope the Horrorcons are done well.

Yeah, I finally got a chance to spend a little time with this guy. The added articulation on the bot is great. The transformation is very interesting. But the alt mode definitely feels incomplete. Especially compared to the original transformation video.

Seconded all around. Fun figure - and fun transformation, as with all of these guys - but the alt-mode doesn't hold up when compared to their other Headmaster offerings.

He arrived yesterday, and I feel the same. The figure feels rushed, like he could have received another round of refinement/re-engineering. The tail in particular is really bad.
