To quote Bay, "If it didn't happen onscreen, then it didn't happen". That was his response when the comics and trading cards came up. So for any Bot or Con that wasn't killed onscreen, they can still be alive and brought back.

Ontop of all that, we learn if a Transformers spark isn't damaged, they can be resurrected. I think we actually learn that in ROTF, when Sam is told to merge the Matrix with Prime's spark. It's then emphasized in AOE that their life force and essence is in their spark. That leaves the resurrection door wide open for those Transformers whose sparks were not blown to smithereens.

 

This could work. I only ever genuinely liked Wheelie in DOTM because his voice wasn't annoying or humping Megan Fox's leg, so as long as they stick with the DOTM characterization for him, that satisfies me.

 

anything that happened in the movie books or comics is not canon and so anyone who died in the books or comics can still come back. In fact, Barricade died in the movie 1 book adaptation. He was killed by Optimus before Optimus killed Bonecrusher. But in the comics, Barricade was not killed and was just badly damaged and was able to regenerate and heal his wounds. And later he also returned in the prequal book to ROTF but didn't show up in the movie lol.
