Interesting bit about Hasbro dumping Creative Artists, who hooked them up with talent for the movie, in favor of Bay's William Morris.

The story seems to indicate that the movie isn't just big stuff for the brand, but a possible turning point for the company.

 

Ok that is interesting, butcan someone explain how it affects Transformers and the fans?

 

It won't really as far as I can tell. It's just Hasbro doing some "adjustments" on the business side of things.

 

I forsee a lawsuit in the future.

We're talking about Hasbro here, they pretty much know every angle there is to any possible lawsuit. And they have an army of lawyers to back them up so no deal.

 

Hasbro did say they wanted to move from being a toy company to a properties company that made toys.

 

You can get sued for changing your artistic representatives?

 

This is America, where regretably, you can get sued for just about anything. For example, they could come up with a loose argument that their termination was in breach of contract or wrongful, and then hope Hasbro chooses to pay them off rather than pay lawyers to fight it. Or any one of dozens of other possibilities.

 

I'd hope Hasbro would have kept everything completely above board regarding contract terms and the like, with it being a kind of important time for them at the moment.

Could moving to Bay's reps indicate that they are planning to work with him some more in the future, i.e. TF sequels, other properties?

Of course it could just be that they offered a better package, heheheh.

 

All this business stuff confuses my addled brain, but basically Hasbro saw first hand that another company was doing a better job than Creative Artists and switched to them?

Sounds like ordinary business practice to me as long as contracts were 'honoured'. Can't see Hasbro breaching a contract and inviting trouble just to get in bed with a new company a bit earlier.

 

I take it as a restructure. Maybe they weren't promoting enough for them so they went to a more agressive firm.

 

William Morris was actually mentioned in the Variety article from a few days back.

And results in Hasbro dumping Creative Artists for Michael Bay's rep William Morris?

Clue was a great movie. They should leave it alone at that. I can only see Candy Land working as a children's television show or an animated film (animated) and Trivial Pursuit working as a t.v. game show aimed at older adults. But Trivial Pursuit as a movie? Hell no. Trivial Pursuit? What's that going to be? Two and a half hours of rolling dice and answering obscure questions only your parents and grand-parents would know the answers to? If someone did make Trivial Pursuit into a successful movie then I'd congratulate them for doing the impossible.

 

Actually, I could see them doing it. It'd be ******ed, but something along the lines of Jumanji or Zathura might do the trick. Like I said, ******ed, but "do-able".
