I am curious why the opening news poster felt it was necessary to put "13 hours: the Secret Soldiers of Bengazi" in bold on the front page of tfw2005, and adding that it was "a commercial and critical success." That seems like a heavy-handed push for this movie, because Fox News has been selling this movie for days, along with their skewed version of truth (that is not depicted in the movie).

Partisan politics have no place on these boards, and should not be slyly inserted into a Transformers news posting. It was inserted in a way to not "look" partisan, but the bold font and timing of the post tells me otherwise.

Hmm.. You might be reading a bit too much into it...

I just checked Tomatoes to see how critically acclaimed 13 hours is (59 at the mo) and I saw this review "Several critics have given 13 Hours a pass, citing Bay's skill at action engineering. It's his failure at everything else that makes this movie as hard to endure as it is impossible to believe.."

It made me laugh, it could easily be a review for one of the Transformers movies! Actually you could pretty much interchange the movie title to any Bay movie, and it would still stand.

That aside, I do actually feel like watching this movie. If it is good it might sweeten my optimism for TF5.

Well the Windy City is nice to look at so there's that. It may also offer tax incentives or low overhead costs to film there like it was with Sydney for a while.

No, I caught it too. It's not a "critical success" no matter how much the audience reviews like it, and it isn't a financial success either. It pretty much tanked.

There's nothing wrong with (on a TF board) saying "Michael Bay said X about TF 5 while doing an interview about his new movie 13 hours" but considering the movie's very heavily political slant *AND* the only people saying its amazing are from a certain political slant themselves... I mean, its not appropriate here. Anytime something like this comes up in a thread the mods nip it, but for some reason its sliding in a news post.

Its also worth noting that the OP of the thread didn't mention it at all, the news staff person who wrote the story put it in. So it makes the site look like it has a political slant.

I'd rather keep my politics and TF toys in different places, please.

Actually I'll be honest, I didn't quite realise the political implications of the movie until I started reading the reviews now. Still, I don't believe TFW staff would deliberately insinuate a political bias, they're pretty quick to shut people down on topics like politics and religion around here. I guess we should wait to see what they say about it.

You clearly have not seen the movie AT ALL trying to say there is a political slant in there. I recently saw the movie and can say this statement is a pure lie. There is nothing political about the movie whatsoever. The movie ITSELF brings absolutely NO politics into the film and the only thing really political about it is the fact that these soldiers were not sent help by anyone, yet the film does not specify on who didn't send help.
Don't fall to what the news or anybody is saying, this is NOT a political film. It is a movie about a group of guys trying to do the right thing.

    Rant over.

That is part of the political slant, although you have it slightly wrong: its that they were specifically told to stand down (but there was no such order). There is plenty else in the movie and script that twist the truth to make a political point, but I'll leave that for discussion on movie boards, not TF boards. I won't go into further specifics, as that would break the very rule I would like enforced, but the script was written from a particular political slant that doesn't line up with the facts of what happened.

All I'm saying is that slant should be removed from the news article, as the article makes it look like the site as a whole prefers that particular slant on this highly political issue.

The best answer is for the mods to pull it from the story rather than let a political argument take place in the comments.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa guys! :)

I did NOT meant anything political. I can't think of anything political on my post.

Besides, I'm friends with several Movie Critics who said very good things about 13 Hours. I wrote it with honesty.

Oddly, the only one talking politics is you. Everyone else is carrying on with the usual Bay bashing/supporting and talking about the part that's relative to the site, which is Transformers.

Further, no one (in their right mind) would accuse TFW2005 of having a political bias when the only reason why the article is posted is due to the interview having to do with TFs/filming in Chicago.

Calling a movie a critical and commercial success is hardly political. And trust me, we're not trying to push any narrative here. SO just reported what they knew and observed. Let's all chill out and talk about the new movie and just how low our expectations should be for us to enjoy it.

I thought Chicago was suing Bay for damages?
