All the castlevania games are great if you like the metroid games.

I loved Metroid II on Gameboy. Also I don't think you need a map. I did not need one when I was a child and still remember where everything was.

    For GB:
    Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
    Metroid II
    Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
    Super Mario Land
Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
    Revenge of the Gator
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan

And one of my favorites that no one ever talks about:
    Gradius: Interstellar Assault

It's pretty solid with an extensive US and Japanese library. But if you want to play some PC-Engine CD games you may need later versions of the CD Super System Card. The CD add on only comes with V2.1 card included while the Turbo Duo have version 3.0 built in. The last version of the CD cards is the Arcade card.

If you are looking for any versions of the Super System Card 3.0 or the Arcade card it is kind of expensive. A lot of people end up getting a Turbo EverDrive V2 since it is a lot cheaper.

Looks good but the text at the top looks a little pixeled. Is that because it's scaled down?

Hey if you need help I have CAD and can redraw some stuff, I definitely get an 80's nostalgia vibe from that art.

To fans of the Metroidvania genre, I'd recommend Batman Origins: Blackgate.

That game features my favorite version of "Bloody Tears". As much as I love the electric guitar versions of the newer games, nothing tops that 16-bit timpani.

So... Is it just me, but are there a lot of, um... douchebags in the vintage game collecting community?

Not here, I mean. :)  Just generally.

And another question - I've got the opportunity to trade some of my G1 TFs for a Genesis and Sega CD, with a bunch of games. Any opinions on the Sega CD? I remember wanting it as a kid, but I don't remember any must-have games for the system...

From personal experience, the only bad people I've run into in regards to retro gaming are re-sellers.

For me, the must have games on the Sega CD are any game by Working Designs. I bought my genesis/cd so I could play Lunar 1 and 2 on there and it was well worth it for those alone. The only issue I have with it is all off the power cables you end up having to hook up once you have the genesis, sega cd and 32x all hooked up at once.

Once upon a time I had a Sega CDX. I got rid of it before I got into console collecting. I don't know if I want to get one again. It was a love/hat relationship.

Just picked up Greendog the Beached Surfer on the Genesis. Read some good stuff about it back in the day, but not really feeling it with this one. The platforming isn't super tight, jumping feels floaty, & the graphics mix cartoony elements with semi-realistic ones.

And also, with a game about a surfer dude at the beach, who thought it would be cool to stuff him in a rundown subway level?

I've never had a bad experience talking to a retro gamer/collector irl. Most of the ones I know became friends, and also share a common interest in transfomers since it's very likely they were also growing up in the early 80's. So no, no real bad experiences there but it could also be that we are the douchebags and don't notice it :lol

I can't get the special moves to work on Guile. Dunno if it's the controller... it never worked. When I played it on Amiga it worked. On PS3 no such luck.

    D-Pad or Analog stick?

If it's the stick try the d-pad. Other than that got no real tips for you other than practice :(

Haven't you losers ever heard of emulators?
Did I say "losers"? I meant "awesome people who totally aren't losers at all".

Sonic CD, the Lunar Games, Star Wars Battle Chess. That's about it. Some of the others are okay but developers hadn't yet figured out what to do with the extra storage space besides FMV scenes. I'd keep the G1 TFs.

For $3 I've been on the fence all week. I love the SF series, I just have too many fighting games on my hard drive that I don't play already and I already own the anniversary collection on PS2.

Do you mean his charge moves (sonic boom, sonic kick) or that gawd-awful upside down, inverted "7" move?
