I posted this over in Toys, but I think it may actually qualify as news, as I don't think it's been heard of before now... Rescue Bot Medix as Heatwave on Amazon: Amazon.com: Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Heatwave the Fire-Bot Figure: Toys & Games
New to me, and I've been getting right up to speed with as much as physically possible with the Resources relaunch and all. News credit for the find, sir!
Wonder why Botcon didn't show off -any- exclusives for an of the three main lines. Maybe holding back for Botcon? Good way to get reuse out of these really obscure molds though.
Yeah, probably an SDCC thing. They seem to have held off on the stuff that would be of wider interest and focused on the fan-oriented angle at Botcon. Can't say as I blame Hasbro for taking that approach - better that than randomly hold a fan-pleaser like Sky Lynx back.
My sons reaction. "That is so mixed up, and awesome, mixed up and crazzzzzzy" Then he ran off to play with Optimus, Heatwave, Medix and Hoist. Apparently the story is Optimus and Heatwave telling Medix and Hoist that they can also turn in to ambulances and tow-trucks.
Ha! When I first saw the thumbnail image from a distance, I really thought it was an Armada HotShot reissue or something! Strange thing is, I kind of wanted it...
Does anyone still collect these? Diehard fans? My boy is bored with Rescue Bots. Now they're just big, chunky toys taking up a lot of space. I liked the slightly smaller ones, at least for being more space economic.
Actually, the original regular Rescue Bots were bigger, the newer ones are smaller. Are you thinking about the bigger Elite or the even bigger non transforming versions?
I'm talking about the newer ones like monster truck Optimus, motorcycle Bumblebee, boat Heatwave, dino Optimus, dino Bumblebee, etc.
Dude. We get it. You and your kid are done with RB. Do you have to pop into every thread about it to say so? Just because they don't grab you guys any more doesn't mean they're over and done with. The fact that they still make Hasbro enough money that they keep making more should answer your 'concerns' about if people still collect them. Stop flogging your dead horse, man.
They need to cut it out with the repaints of the characters that never got to be in the show. ;_; I'm convinced this is supposed to be based on Movie Ratchet. Your kid has a great head canon. jAaM-tastic!
The link does not work for me. Tbh I like the original Medix better. I never cared for the greenish yellow ambulance look. Red and white is where it's at. I can dig orange/white or even red/black paint jobs for ambulances but the pea green is just kinda ick.
I already have Medix, but damn the head on that figure looks great. Whoever sculpted it should redo all of the Rescue Bots' heads.
It would be rad to swap the heads. Although I dig Medix paint job his smile kinda gives me the creeps. I have no experience with modding figures but I have modded nerf guns before so it can't be too hard right? If anything I would imagine painting to be the hardest part.
Yes... Mine just arrived today, after waiting a few weeks for enough new toys to be in-stock to be worth shipping it all the way to Australia. Just like with the other Amazon Exclusive Rescue Bots toy (Optimus as a Towtruck), I've taken some photos to post here first for TFW members... for anyone interested in buying them, or just seeing how they differ to the original toys. (to see an image full-size, right click on it and select view image) In 2011, the first year/series of Rescue Bots, six transformable toys were released, of the six robots in the cartoon... and all six were re-released in Series 2 in 2013, with new parts for the Energize sub-line. In 2012 (which I refer to as Series 1.5 of Rescue Bots) there were two new molds in this size-class released for Rescue Bots - Hoist and Medix - and neither were on the cartoon... they were just padding for the toyshelves and for kids who would have to wait a whole year for "new" transformable toys and the second season of the cartoon. These two toys didn't see a re-release like the first six of this size-class. Now in 2015, during the fourth year of Rescue Bots, Amazon have given these two molds a second life, as Exclusives with new colors and new heads. (and we saw a re-release of the original Hoist and Medix this year as well... to the dismay of all those parents and collectors who were paying up to $100 for each of them on ebay because they were so rare) Just like with Optimus, this one comes in a bag in a plain brown box. And just like Optimus, it has the original instructions for the earlier toy (with the Medix head) and just the new name on the top. With the original Medix. . Again like the Exclusive Optimus, this has a new head for the toy, that doesn't look to be the same as any previous Heatwave toy (so isn't just a mix-n-match, this head was created for this toy). With two previous transformable Heatwave toys - from 2011 (fire-truck) and 2014 (boat). And the pair of Amazon Exclusive toys. . . .
