I just saw this new Rescue Bots Optimus toy just added to Amazon that turns into a tow-truck... anyone know anything about it, as I don't recall it being mentioned or revealed before.
It is more expensive than the regular transformable Rescue Bot toys, but less expensive than the Elite Heatwave toy... so I have no idea what it is. It says it's an exclusive, but I have no idea what sort of exclusive either.

Looks like the same mold as Rescue Bots Hoist.

Amazon.com: Transformers Rescue Bots Playskool Heroes Hoist the Tow-Bot Figure: Toys & Games

The price point seems to be in line with what the original RBs went for. The more recent $10 ones are a little smaller.

Wow... I totally didn't recognize it (and I have Hoist). The higher price makes sense too. Thanks for pointing that out.
I guess that's one way to reuse Rescue Bots molds of non-cartoon characters, as the six cast character toys from year one were re-released in year two with Energize weapons to make more from the molds.

It's amazing what a completely different color scheme and new head can do to a toy. A bit like Combiner Wars Brake-Neck and Quickslinger not looking very obvious (to me) that they are from Deadend and Firefly.

I grabbed Hoist and Medix back in '14 and Hoist basically has the same engineering as Optimus Primes first Rescue Bot figure. And I'm really getting SICK of that style engineering for transformation. The only one i haven't found yet is Salvage and he looks like a cool figure! Finally they gave someone arm articulation in the Rescue Bots line (my 10 year old does not like it when their arms are static. He can use his imagination.when it comes to leg and head swivels but hes not as forgetting with arms)

SO.... needless to say I don't have use for Prime as a tow truck unless he shows up in the show as that

Seems amazon and Hasbro caught on to who is really buying rescue bots figures.
completionist collectors. Or Optimus prime collectors.

But it does seem like a unusual exclusive.

I already have hoist. Not sure if I'll bother with this.

These toys are really BORING. My kids will play with them, to a degree, but give them a box of Rescue Bots vs a box of G1? No contest.

Even though they prefer the Rescue Bots show to G1, they prefer the G1 toys to this. These RB toys are just bulky and too simple. They need more transformation and a touch more articulation.

I feel like these toys are meant to withstand rough play as the number one design goal, rather than fun or challenge.

I'll pick it up for my son. He's been playing with Rescue Bots for 4 years now with no signs of slowing down. They remain to be his absolute favorite toy at least an hour a day EVERY day.

I have stopped buying toys for these reasons, unless this shows up in the show, no thank you. I will by the trailer version, but I want to see the jetpack in the show. Why do this, what next, Optimus as Heatwave? Optimus as Bee, Optimus as Medix?

Got mine today, funny how it comes bagged in a special Hasbro cardboard box instead of the regular packaging.

Yes, I was really surprised and disappointed that it was sent rather cheaply... reminding me of the early Collector Club membership toys.

It's just in a plain bag in a plain box.

With Hoist, who is the mold being used, but with a new head.

The instructions show Hoist's head though.
