Maybe tomorrow? Maybe Never? If we return, you'll know, the sky will turn dark, the earth will shake, the oceans will revolt against the cruel mistress of gravity and heard in every corner of the globe shall be the deep rumbling "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DEMENTED PEOPLE PLAY WITH TOYS"
Thanks for the heads up about the Botcon artists paying their own way to go. I'm not going myself, but have put it out there that anyone going who would be willing to pick up a sketch for me, I'd be happy to pay for it and the shipping to get it to me.
Thank you tons for answering my question! Again, hope I wasn't too wordy, I know I have a bad habit of it.
As somebody who has been to SDCC a number of times, I will tell you that if you aren't a horrible person to ask somebody to pick up something for you on Sunday. Sunday is practically dead in comparison, and there isn't a weird pass system that lets you only pick up something at certain periods in the day. (This might not be true of the Lego booth, but I tend to steer clear of that thing.) The only problem with Sunday, is that it is whatever is left after the convention. You aren't going to necessarily be able to get what you want, but it still might be easier grab on Sunday, rather than pick it up on-line. Also, at SDCC there is a bag check (I think it was $15), so at very least you might want to consider giving that much to your mule. And if plan to ever attend SDCC, get yourself a member ID. It just takes a few seconds, and registration closes shortly before each sign up. You can't go, if you don't play. Every individual going for the first time, gets the same chance. You get to the sign up, and have a randomized place in line. Groups (4 people, is the maximum I think) might have a slight advantage. Once you've got your tickets, you can then sign up additional people. So, as long as you are in close communication, you can all get in line, and whoever gets to the tickets first can sign everyone else up. A person going a 2nd time gets two chances at passes. There's tickets set aside for people who visited the previous year. So, for instance last year I was only able to go 3 out of the 4 days, this year I'm signed up for all 4. ... This is very important to know if you do get out there. On Wednesday, from 3:00 - 7:00, you can pick up your badges at Town & Country resort, which is located at the Fashion Valley. I only know about it, because SDCC really promoted the heck out of it when they first established the system. Now, I can't find any mention of it except in a tiny blurb in the shuttle route PDF. If you don't take the shuttle there, it can be a bit tricky. It isn't very far from the trolley stop, but the resort is located on the opposite side of a pass that goes through the trees. Instead of the more obvious mall complex that first catches your eye at the stop. Also, finding the conference hall from that area can get a bit tricky. However, the pay off of not having to wait for tickets the previous night, is totally worth it.
You mention to protect chrome you just need to put on some clear nail polish or something like that? Someone have any details, tips, or links? I'd love to protect a few of my toys.
I've only done it once, but it's just what it sounds like. Buy clear nail polish, paint it on chrome bits.
