Having read the thread I do decree this fandom has some of the most ridiculous people to have ever complained about something so absolutely unimportant. Deliberately being vague because I don't want anyone to get offended and shit their diapers.

I'd personally go with Marvel but both works too.

That's not what Splits was saying. He was pointing out their is literally no American G1 Star Saber personality. He never said Star Saber can't be the japanese character.

    :lolol

We're talking about the marginalizing of a character and the overwriting of history based largely on intolerance of things which are old or things which are "foreign," of which this bio is only the latest example.

On its own, yeah, it's just one egomaniac fan inserting his preference where it doesn't belong rather than just doing a straight translation like he should have, on a product few people will see. But as part of a pattern that seems to be getting worse, it's worth pointing out and complaining about, imo.

And that is meaningless point to make. The American G1 Star Saber personality can be the Japanese character. And not only "can." That should be the default.

If, say, a French movie gets brought over here, the main character doesn't need to have an "American personality." The character is the character. The whole idea is needless. The "American personality" of G1 Star Saber should be the actual G1 Star Saber character, simply translated into English. We don't have to Tiger Lily him or whatever.

    Well said man :thumb

The writer probably loves IDW TF stuffs. Considering I abandoned IDW comic for sometime now, this latest bio on SS made me hate IDW even more for some reason...

I've only ever seen masterpiece toys sold in stores a few times in the last ten years in Australia so I don't think its going to send this continent into a frenzy.

Calling the translator an egomaniac is undeserved. He has not forced this change to every MP-24 release, you'll only find this in the Australian release where the entire demographic is majority anglo saxon and makes sense that they'd use a translation that a western demographic can relate to. The job was offered to him by Hasbro from my understanding, so everything that you see would have been a collaborative effort I'd imagine.

There are two posts from ozformers forum that anyone who's interested in this should read. Both by the translator/adapter himself

An explanation to why it's spelt Sabre and not Saber:

I have no idea how this thread has this many posts on something that has literally no affect on anyone outside of Australia. Fucking ridiculous. Thread should be closed.

Southtownkid, no offense, but at this point you're just embarrassing yourself by complaining about something so trivial so much. Just let it drop.

Again, I'm not complaining about this specifically so much as the larger trend, and you sure have replied enough in this thread for someone with nothing to say about it.

What larger trend? The one you've completely made up?

And yeah, I've replied to the thread, pointing out exactly why this bio is meaningless.

Yeah, over and over. If it's so meaningless, you can let it die, too. I only reply to people keeping this topic going.

It's possible to enjoy the IDW comics without wanting them shoved down our throats all the time, especially where they don't belong, like here. I'm not the only person who sees and resents the marginalizing of TF history, particularly the Japanese side, in favor of new IDW fiction. As its own thing, it's been great. But we don't have to erase the original stuff to have it.

If you don't see the problem, you probably don't care much about the original stuff. Which is perfectly fine. But the problem exists for those of us who do.

Where are the other examples of Transformers being given IDW bios instead of their originals? Generations Tailgate? Skids? Swerve? Whirl? Nope, and most of those are toys OF the IDW characters. The closest to come to such a thing was Waspinator and rather instead they chose to write the bio as vague as possible.

And this is most definitely not being shoved done your throat. Or were you intending on paying the $300 AUD this release is likely to cost?

I'm not talking about bios. I'm fine with IDW bios being used for toys that represent IDW characters. You really don't get it.

Guys come on, at least gaga is making actual arguments and not just flat out name calling like other antagonistic jerks, but southtownkid when you respond to those singular posters who are entirely disrespectful and dismissive of others opinions, you are fanning the flames, and only furthering their belief that fans will whine at anything, regardless as to it being incredibly rude for them call others names, rather than engaging with them and finding out why this irks them so much

Besides it shouldn't be about trying to convert others to your mindset, simply to voice and explain why you think what you do, and vice versa, and both of you have already voiced your opinions and thoughts thoroughly enough that if someone doesn't understand, it's on them, not you

Im only posting Because I know neither of you are just buttheads posting a-hole comments, and I think it's totally ok to have vastly different opinions and still be freinds :)

Note - the later post showed SS Function as "Autobot Enforcer" instead of duly appointed enforcer... Below is the full bio:

    From TF Religion Facebook
Here is the bio that I wrote for MP Star Sabre:
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Function: Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord
"Everything I do is divinely sanctioned."

Star Sabre was among a group of pacifistic but zealous Cybertronians who initially refused to participate in the Great War known as the Circle of Light. The Circle left Cybertron and founded a new colony known as Crystal City on Theophany. Star Sabre views non-believers with contempt, and intends to exterminate them, a view that was quickly rejected by the Circle's leader, Dai Atlas. Star Sabre then allied himself with Chief Justice Tyrest, betraying the Circle. Star Sabre considers non-believers as apostates and heretics, and that only those who follow their views are worthy of Primus' love and approval. As a Motorvator, his Spark is housed in a smaller robot known as Sabre. Sabre can combine with a weapons platform known as the Victory Star to form Star Sabre. As daring as Sabre is, he is utterly fearless as Star Sabre. Wields a short sword known as the Gladius Stellae, and the larger Great Sword. Radical beliefs allows his Great Sword to project beams and force fields. Transforming into a supersonic jet, Sabre can combine with the V-Star module to form a larger and more powerful jet. The V-Star is also capable of remote operation. Carries a formidable laser rifle. Equipped with head-mounted rotary photon cannons and versatile shoulder-mounted grand blasters, capable of launching proton and psycho missiles; thought weapons that induce paralysing fear. In-built matter drive allows Star Sabre to teleport. Teleportation creates a bright purple flash which can give his position away to enemies. Star Sabre's greatest weakness is the social isolation brought about by his radicalised views.
