I am in awe at the Arcee figure. She is, in my opinion, the best looking TF fembot ever created. Honestly, it's not surprising to learn that both a Masterpiece and a Kiss Player designer worked on her. She is how a fembot should look-Feminine. So when the article states, "The focus of her character design was on the feminine appearance," it really shows. As an artist/3D modeler myself, I know from personal experience, the feminine form can be very difficult to capture. With this said, to have a mechanical figure register as feminine and also have the ability to transform, requires a phenomenal level of artistry and mechanical know how. Hats off to the designers!!

The Headmaster Arcee mentioned is the proposed (but unreleased) G1 Chromedome repaint.

Thanks to Sydney for the translations too. I had little to do with the translations short of picking out Kobayashi-san's involvement in Arcee's design and bringing up his old scratch-build.

I have the Takara Arcee and Windblade preordered. I'm still on the fence with Chromia, tho I'll probably get her. I preordered Strafe and Scorn and will preorder Slug next week. I also have AD31 preordered.

Dem Fembots were all Takara-inspired and Arcee designed by Kobayashi-san?!

    EPIC.

P.s. Thanks so much to SydY for the very awesome translations. Cool as always. :)

I am bit surprised, I thought Generations toys are now designed by Hasbro? Or how does it goes, they decide what toys to make and the Takara guys design it?

Yeah, why does the translator bother to point out the difference between Oiran and Geisha when regardless of how noble each profession it was, it is still basically a high-class prostitute - just higher class than a Geisha?

Well it's not that different. We had courtesans too in Italy and France where it was an accepted (but still shameful) profession. They were learned, cultured women who offered more than just their bodies to their "customers". And just remember all the famous women who had the power of an Empress or Queen but were just high-class lovers of the Emperor or King.
I doubt that in Japan they viewed Geisha in a very different light - definitely not looked down on them, but it was still a dubious line of work at best.

Read my post above - Geisha's aren't any type of prostitute. That's a western misnomer.

Eh, because I thought it was noteworthy? I found the fact the article specifically says "oiran" interesting myself. Please bear with me, I do this so that I can share what I enjoy reading with my fellow members here :)

I am impressed with your knowledge. I've always thought geisha doesn't seem very appropriate to describe her headsculpt, but I was thinking the motif might be "maiko" who is definitely not a sex worker. (Sorry off topic)

Both Hasbro and TakaraTomy work on the design of things. Seems Hasbro comes up with the initial designs and (typically) the character roster. While Takara does the engineering and finishing touches. But that's just my impression of it.

Thanks for taking the time to translate and share this stuff guys! There is always so much interesting stuff posted on Takara's end that us non-Japanese speaking people miss out on. So stuff like this is very much appreciated.
