Actually i wonder if Hasbro will do something smart in that they will have Warrior/deluxe class only but within that you'll have smaller deluxes or larger deluxes. I'm thinking of how they made Lockdown in TFA be a bigger deluxe (taller) when compared to the others.

I can imagine that by packaging in certain modes it'll still fit the packaging and the with some deluxes smaller (and hence less plastic) they can give other deluxes more plastic and be slightly bigger.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but when I saw the picture of Grimlock, this came to mind immediately, especially the hands:

I don't know why you are automatically branding RID with kids. Plenty of collectors bought and enjoyed the FE/PRID toys even though they weren't generations. I don't see how RID's toyline is any different than Transformers Prime's. As a collector, I find interest in the RID toys--sure, they certainly have some flaws--but I'm sure I'm not alone.

    According to TFU's twitter,
RID warrior class is $14.99 and Gen deluxe class is $16.99
they are similar but differnt class.
    Kids-oriented series have kids-friendly pricepoint, doesn't it?

Hmm so 14.99 is like the original deluxe price point (well not counting at one point in time deluxes were 9.99 at Walmart and then 12.99). 16.99 is the "collector" pricepoint?

Honestly either price point is quite an increase over the original deluxe pricing.
I'm not sure if i can consider 14.99 to be kid friendly and 16.99 to be collector friendly. If i recall some market research before kid purchases need to hit that below $10 price point to be easy purchases for parents.

THen again, prices have gone up steadily in the past few years so maybe this is just the new pricing overall.

But the warriors are deluxe. These toys look more like the legion figures.

..and thats why they are "for kids" from Hasbro's perspective ~ unlike PRID, and especially FE, these have a lower level of fit & finish and design & engineering then Deluxes typically have for the last few years.

...and $16.99 for Generations deludes next year? I understand rising costs, but Hasbro is just killing the goose with these prices (i cannot even fathom that they are now trying to get $10-11 for 3-3/4" Action figures.) We've gone from MSRP of $9.99 to $16.99 in, what 5 years after holding for close to a decade? (when did it officially bump up to 12.99, was it RotF or DotM?)

I believe that's just TRU's pricing. My TRU already has Generations deluxes at that price, with movie deluxes at $14.99.

If they manage to do that with characters in the toyline like Optimus and Grimlock who deserve larger toys then Deluxes then I'll be pretty happy with the lack of Voyagers if they at least do that but I'm not getting my hopes too high yet.

Ok Now that Would be awesome. Though that just seems highly unlikely.

I think everyone is judging these a little too harshly, especially since you all know that Hasbro isn't the best with "official pictures". Just because they look like legions from Hasbro's pics doesn't mean that they still don't have superior articulation and detail. After we get more information and details, we can call them "only for kids", which I simply do not believe.

And that's why G1 prices on ebay are un-understandably expensive. It would have been a miracle for lots of collectors if a seller actually had a decent price.

And then the kiddy downgrade. People are getting older, not younger! i can't tell what's deluxe and what's a one-step changer anymore.

You do realize, that these are toys? And that the main target for them, is in fact, kids? It's been pointed out many times, even by hasbro themselves, that kids, not collectors, make up the majority of transformer sales.

Not sure if someone's already asked this, but....

Why does Warrior Class Prime look like he's suffering from "no neck" syndrome?

$16.99 is the new MSRP for Generations Deluxes as of NYCC. It was shown on those little plaques that Hasbro put out with the display models. TRU is just getting the jump on it, I guess.

Ah, didn't know that. I'm not surprised that TRU raised the prices already.

Walmart did that in 2009- they kicked up the prices on Transformers Universe and GI Joe Comic packs to $12.99 that spring, even though the new prices didn't technically take effect until the launch of new product in the early summer.

The fact prices were held that low for so long was probably reason we saw that big jump around 2009 (it was 2009 with RotF deluxes hit $12.99, and we've been fluctuating between 12.99 and 14.99 since).

Let's face it, we in the US have had artificially low toy prices for years (probably stretching back to before the first movie) and what we've seen since 2009 is effectively a "market correction" combined with the continued raises in costs (and NOT just oil!).

Plus, Generations is now deemed a "collector line", which is probably justification on both Hasbro AND retailers' part to chuck an extra couple extra bucks on (presumably due to lower sales volume)

I've heard reports that certain Targets have gone to $16.99 as well.

Of course! I wouldn't expect anything else. I meant "only for kids". I'm just saying that I don't fully support the statement that has been made that these toys have zero appeal for collectors, and are on a completely different level than the generations deluxes. (I realize the simplified engineering, and respect alternative opinions, of course).

    Ah, gotcha.

While they don't appeal to me, I do have to agree with you though. I'm sure these will appeal to plenty of collectors.
