The $70 price is referring to Hasbro's announced price for Prowl in it's US Hasbro release.

correct. the tru 2014 version was a way to get it cheap. rite now on ebay the 2014 version is still the cheapest way to get it. about $120-130.

Yup. And that's what people are willing to pay. Thought we covered this...:banghead:
Hasbro isn't going to give it away for $30 bucks like people were hoping.

MP collecting is not a hobby for people who want things cheap, unfortunately.

How do we know? This is Hasbro's first MP release of any of the car bots. There is no precedence for the price tolerance of these car releases. You keep hopping around between aftermarket, asian releases, etc.. when we were talking about the US Hasbro releases. Of which, Prowl is the first for the cars (excluding Rodimus).

No one is asking for cheap - but questioning a price is not the same as asking for it to be absurdly cheap.

The last seeker was priced at $75.. with TC being priced at $70 before it. I can see Grimlock being priced at or near the seeker mold given the size and accessories.. but now the much smaller autobots are being priced at $70. My comment was about Hasbro in the US mass market retail... no collectors willing to buy from overseas, etc.

Yeah I hate the seeker mold. I kinda prefer the old ones because at least the alt mode looks good.

Bring on the ConeHeads!!! lol jk

I like the bot mode of the MP-11 mold a lot more...just need Hasbro Skywarp MP-06 next year and Hasbro Starscream MP-08 the year after that and I am one happy man-child. (Speculating of course)

I'm just glad I got my Hasbro MP-03 at $39.99 (box was damaged) I never saw MP-02 once.

The thing is, I wonder what Hasbro is thinking with $70 for Prowl? I got my Prowl from Japan and it cost less that that shipped to my door. Grimlock hit retail at $65 (Re-issue) before they raised the price to $80.

I Understand supply vs demand, but People in the know will just order from overseas, and get the figure for cheaper, and before the Hasbro release. Just seems like they are splitting their market

We actually have a wall of Grimlock here at one of my local TRU but the price for him here in China is way over $150 USD. I already have a couple of the mold but I always had a wish that I could see a store stocked full of them and we have at least 50 of them going wall to wall on one side of the Transformers section. It's a cool sight. There's a lone Acid Storm hanging out there as well.

Toys R Us set their own prices, not Hasbro.

TRU sets prices based on costs and MSRPs - which are controlled by Hasbro. So yes, technically TRU choses a price, but they do so predominately on factors controlled by Hasbro.

Every single store that carries Hasbro products is given a suggested MSRP, but the final cost is up to the individual retailer, which is why TRU tends to be more expensive than virtually any other b&m store for anything they stock. To top that off, TRU has a history of raising prices once it's evident a product is selling well. MP Prime started at $99 and was slowly raised to what? $140? Hasbro has nothing to do with that. It's all TRU.

it's both. hasbro has been constantly raising prices and tru is always the most expensive of the retailers.
