Concerning the listener question I've got an idea. Whenever Hasbro releases a Movie Bumblebee, include a Unicron crotch.
Sure kids will be like "WTF!" but customizers will be all over that.

    Regarding the listener question..

I think the engineering would disqualify this as a workable idea, but how about a combiner that can transform & doesn't look like his limb parts. Okay, to give you an example, consider the Wreckers repaint of Fall of Cybertron, which has Xaaron's head.

Now what if the combined mode didn't look like a collection of odd limbs, but a complete robot that had his own unique alt mode, that might qualify.

Of course, I'd imagine doing the engineering for this thing would be a nightmare, & I'd imagine that it could end up as a complete mess. Since the individual robot parts might have sacrifice quality (articulation, recognizable alt/robot mode, complexity of transformation). And the same problems likely could plague the combined mode.

If this could be pulled off perfectly, it'd be amazing.

I personally like how Hasbro is doing the Build-a-figures with Marvel(X-men specifically I guess?) Legends.
Collector's can get the extra figure without adding another Wolverine to the pile, and more casual buyers can get a Wolverine without dealing with a body part they'll never bother buying the rest to complete.

i like how it works too but i dont like how they double up on alot of part then shortpack the only figure that has the head (captain america's black widow comes to mind) i think it should be all evenly packed with enough parts to go around so we dont have the issue of, lets say a headless jubilee running around.

Wow! My question got selected! Neat. Haven't listened to the podcast yet, but I'll add this to what I initially wrote:

TF toys are already at a price that many find expensive and adding a BAF piece to them will jack up the price even further, which is something I don't think I considered before (don't remember exactly how I phrased my question to Vangelus). The new Marvel Legends BAF figures here run around the $25 price point and I can't imagine too many being happy with having to pay $25 for a deluxe.

Another thing is the short packed figures. I've been having a hell of a time finding the last piece to complete my Mandroid, which is the head that comes with the Marvel Now! Captain America. Was he short packed like Black widow or was he not included at all in the most recent case assortment? I finally broke down and bought him on Bbts.

While on the hunt for that last piece, yesterday I found that my TRU's have stocked the Marvel Legends Guardians Of The Galaxy figures with the BAF Groot... guess I'm in on a whole new hunt! ..... this is gonna get expensive quick.

There are a lot of transformers characters that could work for build a figure: any of the original action master characters, nightbird, and "armored" Sari who don't transform or characters whose alt mode I say don't matter like Tyrest, Alpha trion, Or Rung

That's a good idea. I think humans would be very nice. If the humans are about an Inch tall plastic wise it would be about half as much as a gun. The only problem might be paint budget.
I could also see a "build a figure" Rung. he's so small and skinny I think that would work well without exceeding toy development budget.

Voyagers here are €45. Or $60+. So your "I found Hound for 43 bucks at the studios" bit? Yeah.

While the line he's in is 3.75 he's actually a bit bigger but I'd still like a large deluxe/voyager sized version
