I got the first issue today. I'm digging how the series is doing so far. :)  Windblade and Chromia are very likeable and fun and the art like a lot of others here say is just beautiful to look at. :D  Miss Stone is fastly becoming my favourite artist in IDW along with Alex Miline and Matt Frank. I hope she continues doing art for IDW.

I'm finding the flashback to where Wndblade,Chromia and Nautica came from interesting too. Perhaps this is a hint of Cybertron having fembots at some point but for some reason dissapeared?

So do we know how well this sold? I'm curious.

    Just putting this out there:

The number of ratings the average RID/MTMTE gets in the first week on Comixolgy is usually... eh, I'd say roughly around maybe 50-ish? These ratings are something I've always kept an eye on, and is something I've used to roughly gauge popularity (not that good a tool for that sort of thing, but it's something).

    Windblade currently has 185.

Thinking about the bomb on Metroplex, did we ever actually find out who planted the bomb in Omega Supreme in RID?

I guess I'm late to the party, but I finally got a chance to read it. So I like it, but don't love it.

The story is a solid setup for an ongoing, altought in the context of a 4 issue series, it doesn't feel like a lot happens. The bar scene was excellent, great to see some of the minor players get quick exposure.

The art is hit and miss for me. I love some of the designs like Fizzle and Slag. I'm not a fan of the faces... they all seem much too youthful for my taste. It's all just a bit too "cutesy". The colors are great, love the painting-like aspect of them. Seeing as how this is a lighter story, I guess it makes sense for the art to be less edgy, but it's not something I would want to keep seeing over the course of an ongoing.

I think the creative team is very refreshing, and while I don't love what I've seen so far, I am onboard to see what they can accomplish over the course of the mini. If the decision is made to give them an Ongoing, I would hope that the series doesn't stay so focused on Windblade. I don't really have any strong feeling for or against Windblade, I just would like to see an Ongoing on Cybertron that featured the large cast of characters that are currently there without always having to shoe-horn her into the story.

People are too literal when they hear "hoping to be an ongoing".

Windblade is just a mini as a guinea-pig for IDW to see how well THIS creative team and their ideas and concept are received by it's readership and decide if they want more of them or not.

If Windblade becomes "an ongoing" I believe that it will be retitled "Transformers Cybertron" or something, start from issues #1 and focus on more characters and Windblade.

That could be because it's the beginning of a new series with some hype behind it. I wasn't reading the comics when More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise came out so I don't know about the hype behind them, but their first issues both have 261 and 159 ratings, respectively (at the moment). Granted both have been out for over two years at this point but I think the point still stands.

bingo. when we say we want a Windblade ongoing, we dont specifically mean "an ongoing where Windblade is the main character and every cover has to feature her" (I like the Windblade covers we have now, but something like that can only work for a limited series), we mean an ongoing produced by Scott and Stone. it would basically take the place of what RID did in Season 1 (since we'd want to be kept up with what's happening on Cybertron), except written by Scott instead of Barber

No offense, but... it kinda doesn't, really. While the hype undoubtedly plays a factor in it, I've kept an eye on these ratings like this ever since the two ongoings started... and the first issues didn't have anywhere near as many ratings in the short period of time Windblade does.

They've accumulated many more ratings over the course of two years.

Fair enough, I guess we'll see when the second issue comes out.

Finally bought Windblade #1 on Comixology.

Sarah Stone, where has your gorgeous artwork been all my life?

Seriously, everything about the art in this comic is phenomenal. The colors are probably a really big part of that -- it feels like a painted mural, with each and every color masterfully selected. Kinda makes me wonder what the lines looked like...

Scott's no slouch, either. Windblade is still kind of a blank slate, but for what we've seen of her, I like her and I want to know more about her. Chromia is completely awesome and I demand to see more fembots like her. Ironhide, though he was only present briefly, was written really well. You can tell that he's starting to drift away from the Cybertronians at large, and for good reason. You really feel for him.

Speaking of Cybertronians, the bar scene was a hoot. Everyone giving their two cents on Starscream was really well done, especially with Swindle being hopelessly plastered. Plus Fat Tankor's dialogue was written more in line with the Beast Machines cartoon, giving me hope that if Mairghread can write him correctly, she can do the same with Sky-byte and Rattrap later on.

This comic gets a THIS ARTWORK IS SO PRETTY/10 from me.
