I just listened to the Heartfelt Joe rant and wanted to share a few things:

-Vangelus the article you read about the Joe team disbanding was old news. We were told at last years Joe Con that the team was moving on, since they weren't at Joe Con last year either. From what I can infer when there is a need they will pull folks together to do Joe stuff, like the 50th anniversary line which draws heavily from existing models.

-The 3 3/4" Joe Colton will be available separately just without some backdrop. Last years Joe/TF set was the last. This years SDCC exclusive will be a repaint of the Flint/Eel 50th set.

-Most people tend to forget that the ARAH line isn't just about the figures, it was first conceived as a vehicle line and vehicles have always been a big part. With that said while I would love to see 6" Joes most fans don't, the price point for such a figure is prohibitive to doing vehicles, playsets, etc. 8" Joes under the Sigma 6 line failed, the return of the 12" line failed, twice, at retail. Going 6" probably wouldn't work.

-I fully agree that we need some sort of dedicated animated media, heck we just need Hasbro to commit to a vision and carry it through. POC was great and was slowly working even as it transitioned into the 30th anniversary/Renegades line. That of course was scrapped for Retaliation.

-For better or worse for the last 10-12 years Joe has been a collector supported line, and it hasn't worked. How could it when you have collectors who only buy one figure a year; someone exclaimed at Joe Con after the SDCC Jinx reveal "Well I was going to buy 'one' figure this year." Believe it or not Kreo has done well and from what we've heard has been the best selling Kreo line by far.

-No matter what Hasbro does the biggest hurdle in my opinion to the success of the Joe brand are the times we live in. A large number of parents in the year 2014 have issues buying toys that glorify the military and war. Both Rise of Cobra and Retaliation were HUGE successes overseas where Joe hasn't been able to sell a single figure since the Iraq war started, that leads to my final point. Joe will probably continue but only as a movie line. Sad, but it's better than nothing.

I think its time for a GI Joe FPS game. Something along the lines of Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Serious question, would you really buy it? Anything new that Joe puts out has to have people dedicated to supporting it.

Yes I would. Hasbro has a relationship with Activision, give it the COD engine, a good campaign and a multiplayer like COD and fuck yes I would.

    Edit* and not movie related.

As rad as a FPS Joe game COULD be, my fear is they would cheep out and give it to an underfunded developer who wasn't up to the task and the game would be a stinker.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did that.

Great insights here---^ I agree it's sad to see the 3 3/4" line devolve into movie product only. But as a diehard Joe fan I'll get figures where I can and right now Kre-o seems to be going pretty strong and filling that void nicely. In fact I say bring on more Kre-o vehicles! I need my Whale, Condor, and Mamba!

Diesel without the back half would be this kind of truck:

Kinda surprised Seth talked as if it was not real. We call these "straight trucks" since they do not swivel. Nearly every major trucking company has a few of these in service. They're real handy for getting into areas you can't get a full size tractor trailer into.

Man, that GI Joe talk was an incredible bummer. I like to look at all the Sideshow Joes I've been picking up and forget about all the lack of faith it's been getting from Hasbro these days. I guess I'm one of the few Joe fan's who doesn't give a damn about vehicles and would LOVE a 6" line. As far as I'm concerned my collection has plenty of room for more kickass Snake-Eyes figures.

Also, it seems Vangelus forgets that the value of the American dollar and Canadian dollar are different. When you factor in exchange rates the $26 Canadian dollars or whatever Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black cost at TRU's up north is roughly equivalent to the $22.99 US dollars that TRU is charging down here. So it may look like we're getting a better deal but we're not.

I hate to say I'm not into vehicles either just because once you put them together they can't be disassembled for storage so just because of that I could go for a 6" line

I'm not at all into Joe figures, but a while back I had an honest to god "toy dream", where I was checking out the new line of Joe figs, and they were 1/12th scale realistic modern military figures with Marvel Legends articulation. After I woke up I was bummed to realize it was just a dream. I think part of the impetus was the modular assault rifles Kotobukiya's making, since in my dream they had something like that...

Really weird tangent, it would also make custom Marvel Cinematic Universe toys a lot easier. Stealth ops figure? Bit of paint and a new head, boom! Batroc ze Leapair. Ground infantry dude? New head, load him up with guns, bam! Emil Blonsky.
