Both of you are correct. The designation of YOTS OS is "Platinum Series - Year of the Snake - Fall of Cybertron Omega Supreme", but it's still based on the G1 Omega Supreme. Or if you want to be more technical, it's based on Mechabot 1 from ToyBox.


Anyway, We all have our preferences. If you like PX-01 Genesis better, that's good for you. If you like YOTS OS with MCB-001 add-on, still good for you. Personally, I like both, but I couldn't afford PX-01. So, I have YOTS OS with the add-on set. Just my 2 cents... Which really doesn't amount to anything both literal and physical.  

 

This kit is a great idea, but it just has too many flaws for me. The cannon is AWESOME, and I would buy it separately in a heartbeat, but the rest of the set just doesn't work, and I'll explain why:

1. Leg kibble: The leg kibble really just seems awkward, and doesn't do much for me. Given it really isn't vital to the look of the alt mode either, this just feels tacked on, like they're just hanging there.

2. Wing/Tracks: The cream color they have for them really doesn't work for me. It's not the same as G1 Omega's off-white, and while off-white worked with G1 Omega's colorscheme (As it appeared elsewhere on him, specifically the arms), it seems out of place on YOTS. Silver or bronze or even gold matching those apps on him would have worked better, I think.

3. Removing the doors: Partforming to transform is fine. Partforming parts that were never MEANT to partsform? That's dicey, and kind of a deal breaker for me.

4. There's only 1/4 of a full track: While that's not a deal breaker for some, it's disappointing, especially as there's no way to get additional track pieces to complete the circle.

5. The rocket part of the alt mode is not changed at all: This leaves it kinda awkward on the launch pad.

While none of these are terrible, they add up to me not being willing to shell out the price of YOTS again to get the improvements.

 

These are good points... Though for some of us who've had YOTS OS, this is our recourse and is affordable to our means.Would have been better? Sure. Do I like this set? Of course. So, I'm happy with what I have. Would I like something else in the future? Maybe. We do have other 3rd Party OS versions that are coming up.

I think the bottom line is, if you don't have YOTS OS yet, maybe you should just save up for something else, especially if you won't be as happy like you stated in your opinion.  

 

yeah, at least i didn't go about insulting your choice like you did to me. and i don't think you get the idea of aesthetics. yots does not resemble wfc/foc aesthetics in the least. you even said it's an energon repaint and energon aesthetic is nowhere close to wfc/foc. quit being so butt hurt and just enjoy your purchase and we'll enjoy ours.

 

I need to get my Omega off the shelf to see if removing the rear doors for partsforming is a huge issue. In the transformation video I saw, it looked like they came off without much effort. It does bug me that they have to be removed, but if its not really stressing the figure in anyway, then its ok by me.

The quarter track thing doesn't bother me because from the looks of the video too, the train barely synchs up with the track. This isn't really surprising since the train itself uses the knee ratchet as a coupler between the front and rear of the train. There's no fine points in between. Color doesn't bother me either.

As for the rocket not being changed, you could leave the nose cone on, so that's an option.

The leg missiles, OTOH, are a pretty big negative. They made absolutely *NO* effort to make them flush with the leg, and the result is a kibbled mess which looks very slapped on because, well, it is. From the videos and pics I've seen, even folding the cannon this way or that does nothing to improve the look from any angle. I like the set otherwise, but its really hard to defend the leg lasers. Maybe they'll look better in hand?

 

Removing the doors on the back are easy.

 

I am honestly curious how many folks would shell out for *just* the cannon. Bet more folks would be OK with only that bit to upgrade Omega. After all, how many folks would probably go between base and bot mode over and over again?

Heck, wouldn't be suprised if someone goes and Shapeways a similar piece.

Kind of a silly pic request... but a few folks did get the Genesis Face for YotS Omega... anyone got shots of the fully upgraded MT/YotS Omega sporting that tank head?

...as that head/tank needs to fit into the chest cavity, that might be occupied by all that back kibble.

 

I'll post one shortly. It won't do. No place to connect or hold the PX head.

 

It's loose and the backpack becomes loose as well as nothing is holding it from the top.

 

Put me down for a cannon only upgrade. I like my Omega the way he is, for the most part, but the boat hand has got to go.

Looks nice... but it's a shame it's loose and apparently would fall apart if you look at it funny.

 

Maybe MegaMoonMan can make an adapter to help with that connection.

You never made a purchase you regreted? It was a impulse buy. Once I got it in hand it really looked bad. Its now sitting in my need to ebay stack that I keep putting off listing.

I canceled my po for this set. I only really want the cannon hand and to me $114 don't justify the purchase for just that. I feel like I could custom make one out of a g1 cannon.

Since there was no early bird pricing on this, I'll wait till this is released. The stubby gorilla legs and the giant diaper on Genesis is what kills that for me so still interested in this.
