Oh wow, somebody on the podcast picked up the Power Lords figures too? How disappointing were those things? I know they didn't nearly live up to the precedent set by the Ggrapptikk Grunts at NYCC.

With regards to the Doctor Who tapes...I believe the latest batch was acquired by a private individual who set an incredibly high price based upon the current resurgeance.

BBC obviously doesn't want to release too many details in case the deal falls through or interest affects the price. Could be wrong on this so anyone who has more info can correct me.

Ok, listening right now to the discussion of TNG on Blu-Ray, and you seem surprised to learn that they released season 2. They've so far released up to season 5 (as of Nov. 19th), so 6 and 7 should be completed later this year, and there are rumors that DS9 could be next (YESSSSS!!!).

As for re-mastering B5.... oy. Well, first of all, that was already "re-mastered" so to speak, for the DVD release, since it was originally shot in widescreen (way ahead of its time) but composed for and cropped to 4:3 for broadcast. However, the CG was all rendered at 4:3, but apparently the original digital resources were... misplaced. So those shots were all cropped down to 16:9 from the master tapes, resulting in less than stellar quality. So if they were to attempt an HD release, the film stock might still exist, but all the CG would probably have to be done from scratch. Sadly, unlikely.

    Great show as always guys.

I'm glad Aaron didn't jump on his soapbox, while I fully understand the issues the club has had in the past couple years and respect Aaron's position, I'm glad he seems to be melting a bit with respect to upcoming products.

Yeah, I've stayed out of the release loop for my own wallet's good. Last time I had looked it was up to season 2 and my brain just picked that.

    Sorry dude. TFCon?

I blame post midnight brain leakage. I used to make a WWGTW text file so that I'd have everything, then stopped doing that. I need to get back to it.

I think that at this point most people know my position on the club. I terribly wish they would be better at customer relations and transparency, but me screaming at the wind leads to everyone tired of my ranting. I think that they would be well served by bringing in someone from outside of their circle, or the fandom in general, with the power and ability to ask hard questions of their practices.

Why wait months and months after your location and date get leaked to make an official announcement that looks like a Geocities page from 2000? Just because in the past they waited for the 6 month mark to announce? Grab the bull by the horns and get out in front of the rumor mill. Knowing dates and locations earlier is always better.

Or the delays on the first Subscription Service figures. Don't hem and haw about why they're late. Say "Look there was a miscommunication on our part with the factory. They thought X when it really was Y. We should have triple checked and we didn't. We're sorry but because of it we can't start shipping until Z." That would have calmed many people down. Truth is always better than nothing, which is always better than a lie or mistruth. Heck even I someone that has been called "An active club hater hoping they fail out of spite" (yes, that's a quote) would have been totally understanding.

But, all that aside, I think that some of what they've done in the last year looks great. I'd looooooove to have me a Generations RiD Scourge as the OG Scourge helped put me back into the TF fandom. The effort that goes into most of the toys is clear. They go a long way for it. They have passion and work so hard on the fandom's behalf that I think they've gotten in deep over their heads. They refuse to believe it and refuse help and good advice because that might make them beholden to someone else. And that makes me sorrowful.

I want nothing more than a great fan club. A fan club by fans and for fans that does fun and exciting things without BS. When they fall short of that I get upset BECAUSE it's falling short of that. I knew many of the guys that are currently instrumental in the club back in the OTFCC days and called them friends. I know their passion is a real thing. AND THAT conflicts me too. Every time I say vote with your wallet I'm also asking people to not support these guys.

    *looks back up post*

    Damn, soapboxed. Sorry guys.

I've had Waspinator since Christmas, and mine came with some stress marks out of the package. However, I've transformed mine twenty or so times, and they don't appear to have gotten worse over time (knocks on wood). The forearms use the same dark green plastic as the shoulders, and those have stress marks on the ball sockets, so I'm thinking the plastic may just be of a low quality, as opposed to some sort of bad design. I also take extra caution when transforming him by pushing in/ pulling out the bug head instead of grabbing the shoulders.

It's still one of my favorite figures in a while. Because its Waspinator.
