This concept art certainly captures the essence of Grimlock's character. I just hope he doesn't look worse in the movie.

This is impossible because we already know that the AOE dinobots are being released individually in different size classes.

In order to release them individually, they must be able to market them individually.

You cant have a TF that you package individually that only transforms into a part of something else. Not everyone will buy all of the dinobots. It would be a colossal failure.

Could you imagine the hypothetical packaging? "Transforms into dinosaur head/torso/hind section".

I think that looks really fantastic. I hope they can get some solid toy accuracy on that one.

It has always worked for Voltron and Power Rangers.

The Voltron Lions and Power Rangers figures were also stand alone 2-mode figures in addition to the combined mode.

In order for the Dinobots to combine into a seamless tyrannosaurus rex as seen in leaked movie art and as the OP suggested, I believe that feasible individual alternate modes would not be possible for the individual figures.

Someone needs to watch Tekkaman Blade and take a goosey at Tekkaman Evil/Saber's feet to see the ACTUAL effect they're going for and not what you THINK they'll look like.

Anywho, I just though of an excellent character template for Grimlock; Conan the Barbarian (as he is Robert E. Howard's novels). Conan isn't a genius, but he's got street smarts and battle savvy and he's brutal as fuck.

    Any takers?

I've always kinda hated how people see spikes on feet designs and their minds intently go to jester shoes.

There was actually a lot of old pointy footed suits of armor through out the ages. It was once seen as a symbol of one's bravado.

Gee, I wonder if the rest of the Dinobots are going to have similar Barbarian/Knight robot mode looks.

If you look at the promo image of grimlock been ridden by op, he has the same feet design as on the t-shirt characters feet if you look, so guess it's plausible it's legite as how would the guy make the t-shirt character with elf feet without seeing the promo grimlocks feet first?, unless the t-shirt was spotted after the promo then it could be iffy

While the design looks pretty badass, I'm really starting to hate the whole medieval thingy. What is this the Game of Transformers? OP looking like a knight is stupid, Grimlock's design is cool as I mentioned before.

People have very little knowledge of historical influences sometimes. I don't fault them as some parts of history tends to be esoteric, but yes I agree. It is still very annoying when people attribute spiked boots to jesters and court fools when it was used as a symbol of bravery in other cultures.

I still love the fact that he's pictures with a two-handed weapon, but looks to only have one hand. I'm sure that's just his right arm in it's weapon-mode, and he has two hands, but I think it's just kinda funny. Gives of a sorta "come a me bro" vibe.

I'm cautiously excited to see him in toy-form next month.

Grimlock might use Optimus Prime's sword in the movie but still hopeful that Grimlock will have a sword of it's own

I think you are looking at his weapons wrong. I think he has 2 of the same weapon. just with his right hand positioned the way it is, we are seeing the second mace head from the top and the shaft is pointed straight back. its the angle playing tricks.
