If you want to be technical, then besides MP11, *NO* other seeker is cartoon accurate, for both companies.

MP03/6/7 are all either real-life accurate or coated with glossy paint. Skywarp's shade of black though is closer to the cartoon.

Hasbro's USA Starscream is a white and blue joke. Starscream was already gray.
Hasbro's USA Skywarp is borderline gray and he's more G1 toy accurate than anything else. Yellow eyes anybody?

Up to that point, *none* is accurate in either mode. Arguably for jet mode, but robot mode is a big no. Jet mode is an F15E with fuel tanks on the sides and two gattling guns [the actual F15 only had one]. Actual jet the G1s are based on is an F15C.

Robot mode is a kawamori new-age inspired redesign of Starscream which takes lots of cues from his other mecha work, namely the scabbards. They're on nearly every robot he has created since 1995. The thicker arms, thinner and more elegant legs, elongated torso, back kibble arangement and scabbards just scream of Kawamori jet-turns into a robot.

MP11S Sunstorm is not close to the cartoon colours because he has a flame gradient. And a cape.

MP11A Acid Storm is not close to the cartoon, if he ever appeared, because he's got all that forst camo deco on. And green eyes.

MP11 Thundercracker has a closer shade of blue to the G1 toy, but he's not baby blue like in the cartoon.

So there you have it. Besides MP11 Starscream, no other seeker is remotely close to cartoon accuracy OR colours. Not that they are bad moulds, but all this talk about accuracy here and there made me cringe.

And how come people speak of seekers in a thread about an MP poll which is comprised almost solely of japanese AUTOBOT leaders? :p

That's a great question and a great post. But I was simply stating that the DECOs on several Hasbro MPs was actually MORE accurate to the character than the Takara versions in reply to several posts stating the opposite.

    That is all.

Indeed, here's some pics of the projected winner to get us back on track! :p

For me, that is just an awesome, awesome looking robot with an alt mode that, simple transformation notwithstanding , is a unique and cool looking space jet. The smaller jet and transforming pilot/breastmaster/headmaster(sorta) really tickle my fancy too. I saw him for the first time over ten years ago and had no idea who he was. I wasn't familiar with the source media and had never seen the original toy. I just stumbled across a gallery of photos of the toy and instantly fell in love - didn't even know it was an actual "Transformer". After learning more about him and seeing the show I liked him even more.

Anyway, I'll be very surprised if he doesn't win. While I would love toys of most of the others on the list (Dai Atlas especially), my heart and soul are rooting for Star Saber and I'm pretty confident that's what we'll get.

I think a large part of Hasbro's target audience for the MP line are lapsed fans in their 30s/40s who watched the show as a kid, are in TRU to buy a toy for their children, and are suddenly overcome by nostalgia. Optimus, Starscream, Grimlock, Soundwave all fit the bill of targeting that group. Most of the others do not.

I think a decent portion of the hardcore audience is at least familiar with who Star Saber is. But I don't think that is a large enough number of people to have TRU carrying a Star Saber MP make any sense.

Even among the hardcore here, there is a pretty substantial group of people who know who Star Saber is, at least vaguely, but have not watched the Takara trilogy and have no plans or interest in doing so.

Acid Storm has had three toys on shelves so he's much less obscure than he was before those three toys. People know him from his toys, not the fiction he appeared in.

I think you are seriously overstating how much impact the toys had.

Seriously. Toys without fiction have close to zero impact on public awareness. That's the entire reason the shows and comics were created in the first place, so many years ago.

I love that one. Here's hoping we can make a close approximation of that with the MP toy!

Will be hilarious if Star Saber loses to someone completely out of the blue like Energon Prime

It will be very, very funny if after all this Star Saber talk, the winner ends up being Micron Legend Convoy.

Or completely left field, Superlink Convoy :lol

Doesn't seem like a high probability for fan rage in something that is decided by fan votes.

I mean, yeah, some people will always be unhappy about anything. But by definition, the largest number of people who care about the outcome will be getting what they want.

You sure are giving TakTomy more idea for a repaint of MP Star Sabre.

Hell, I'd buy it. Imagine that design but with top-quality 2013 engineering. Imagine a trailer that actually turns into show-accurate articulated legs... shit, I think I changed my mind about Star Saber.
