Yup hong kong and china are different places hong kong is british land but they speak fluent chinese where china is pretty much the mainland
I love how you all are trying to be smart and condescending about the Hong Kong thing when you're not completely correct.
That's not the point. When someone says they are flying to Hong Kong. They don't say they are flying to China. They say they are flying to Hong Kong. When they say that they are visiting Shanghai, Beijing or Guangzhou, then they save they are going to China. When people have been to Hong Kong and they tell their friends, their friends will also ask them, did you also visit China while you were in Hong Kong? And if they didn't actually physically cross the China border that divides Hong Kong and China, then they will telll them no, I didn't visit China. it is not that hard to understand
^ Exactly. It's more a matter of semantics than geographical accuracy. When people from other countries fly to Hawaii, they dont say "We're flying to the United States of America", though that technically would be correct, most people assume you would be visiting the Continental U.S. but people dont say that, they simply say, "we are flying to Hawaii"...

But Hong Kong is in China though... Oh what the heck. I'm not even going to question Michael Bay's actions because he is Michael Bay. He does whatever the frag he wants to do. Lol.
I'll be honest - I thought Hong Kong was "in" China as well. So when I read "leaving HK, headed to China", it sounded weird. Then I looked it up. Turns out it's a province outside of mainland China. Now I know.
