It was pretty good, especially because it doesn't hold your hand in exposition. However, Tomino was told around episode 15 that his show was being cut from 50 episodes to 25 episodes and it shows with how much stuff is crammed into the last 10 episodes.
For some reason, I could never finish G-Reco at all. There are things that aren't too bad, but the show is just boring for me, and a lot of stuffs just doesn't make much sense. This may have been a controversial opinion, but I find there's more to like from series like SEED or AGE.
Your not alone, I gave up two episodes in. It felt really confusing trying to follow all the cast and the plot. I do plan on watching the whole series when I get the chance, as I have seen everything Gundam except this and Divers.
As someone that is finishing the original Mobile Suit Gundam series for the 1st time .... i hope the succeeding Gundam series get better as I actually have enjoyed the classic series thus far (shout out to Ramba Ral). After falling in love with Armored Trooper Votoms years ago i hesitantly gave Gundam a chance. I need the franchise to live up to the hype.
Zeta is excellent ZZ is...well, its okay if you make it past the first half. Char's Counterattack is great That's essentially the core UC stuff right there.
They do as the next 2 main series are the best of the entire franchise. CCA is a mixed bag while Unicorn is almost as good as Zeta and ZZ.
I loved Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, though I have to say that love Triangle was SOOOOOOOOO DDDUUUUUMMMMBBBB!
What's funny is that if it wasnt for that romance, the Titans never would have existed. That stupid bitch basically ensured the deaths of BILLIONS because she still had feelings for the clearly evil Zeon guy.
To be fair, by the time the real problems caused by the love triangle came up it was far too late. That said it still comes across as a major ass-pull... and before anyone brings up the Rebellion manga, I don't count that as making anything better.
Well, for what Rebellion does improve it makes Gato's trip to Earth more.. humorous. "Welcome to Earth... You're from Luna 1, what's your purpose in coming to Earth?"
Well yes, rebellion IS definitely a marginally better telling of things and good in it's own right, it still doesn't excuse the flaws the anime had, especially since it was written well after the fact.
I know.. too well. The whole Triangle was just a last minute Rug Pull from Nowhere that just throws too many conflicting ideas at the screen all at once and contradicts so much of the earlier episodes. The only time there's ever a HINT of Nina's relationship with Gato was Kelly's "...It's NINA?!?" but even that still falls flat when there was never any point in having the relationship exist, only to make Kou feel like he's gone absolutely nowhere in the full span of the series. Beaten by Gato at every turn from Stealing Unit 2, Using Unit 2, Destroying both Units 1 and 2, and then the Colony Drop... and also lost the girl because said girl was still somehow hooked on Gato. after never showing any emotional attachment to him for the entire run.
I think they got a few episodes into production and realized nobody cared or was enjoying it, plus, everyone hated Kou, so they panic added some human drama into the story. But that only made it worse.
Finally watched Narrative. I'd say I'm entertained and it's nice continuation from Unicorn. So you think this is the end of U.C.? It's nice to see Banagher "Even So" Links to be inserted in the final scene.
The UC will never end. If anything, we should expect them to FINALLY get around to making an Origin grade remake of the OG Mobile Suit Gundam show (except that stupid infamously low quality episode on the island that involves a Zaku throwing a giant rock, just leave that episode as is for ultimate meta humor). And eventually, I'd have to think Bandai will figure out how to get the rights to the Gundam Sentinel non-Us stuff so we can get an adaption a la Gundam Thunderbolt.
The whole multimedia project centering on the Universal Century is called UcNext100 for a reason, we just need to wait and find out. I would very much love to see Sentinel happen, but it falls into the mid UC0080s, and prequel/sequel/in between time period and not in the UC0100s like they are hinting at going towards.. Blue Destiny too, along with the rest of the Lost Wars Chronicles would be nice. Maybe do it as an anthology serial and just move from one side story to the next. The longshot idea of mine for a non-UC manga to TV adaptation would be combine Astray and Astray R into a single series, just to prove something good can come out of the Cosmic Era besides the Mobile Suits. An insanely awesome idea would be to do it stylistically, in the sort of "StudioTrigger" meet "Gainax" technique for dramatic, over exaggerated action shots. The way it would work is animate the full series in the style closest to Koichi Tokita's artwork.. Convey the story in the clean focused look And then have these dramatic action set piece in the style of Yasunari Toda. The rough, moving lines and curving motion with broad and heavy ink lines pulling your attention to the center of the action. ... if there's ever going to be a Powered Red model, it needs a Television series to milk for merchandise.
Nope. IIRC the Hathaway's Flash movie is due out this November 2019 in Japanese theatres, it will also be a film trilogy. Story will be set in the year U.C. 105. My fingers are crossed for a Fathom Event release for U.S. theatres.
Just read a part of the plot.. I didn't expect the novel's lead character's connection to Amuro's commanding officer. Damn. Anyway part of me wants to see more of Banagher Links in action now... The concept of the Psycho-Frame is really crazy. I mean really crazy. To the point it's unexplainable. It's just a goddamn machine but to control consciousness, a person's soul or what. Then transforms it into some form of energy. Did Tomino really thought of it alone? Wow..
