Today the new CN show Steven Universe airs, is anyone else looking forward to this? It's made by Rebecca Sugar, who wrote the Adventure Time episode "Simon and Marcy" and wrote a lot of the songs for it. It's about a kid called Steven, and and a group called the Crystal gems, who have gem related powers. psst, the first episode is on youtube, you should check it out.
Well...I'll give it a fair shot. My expectations aren't that high though. EDIT: Okay, so I gave it a fair shot. Not too bad. Still kinda dumb, but I'll take "weird and kind of dumb" over "mind-numbingly stupid" any day.
Loved the premiere. The characters, the animaton, the music, the everything. I still wish they stuck to the original designs, tho.
For a show that was exclusively advertised as "lolrandom!" it seems to have a fairly developed back story it's just waiting to show us. It's also interesting how there are 3 main female characters and only 1 male. (they totally could've advertised this as "from the writer of 'Simon and Marcy'...") Ames... Ameth... the purple one's got distractingly odd lips.
I Liked what I saw so far, nice animation and each charatcer has an actual personality. Hopefully it lasts.
All cartoons can't be gems. Remember: if all pork cops were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs. It wasn't bad. My 6 year old liked it. We will give it a chance at this household.
I loved it! I had okay expectations, But i was shocked at its back story and THE MUSIC! Oh god...the music played during scenes was so beautiful, Especially when the Cannonn went off, i almost cried at it. And i love the concept, i like all the characters they have cool personalites And i like Stevens randomness, im a random person but have hold on reality, Steven seem to but is just a kid. I like his dad too, the love between his dad and his mother seemed mature and real. So im deeply loving this show and i cwnt wait to delve more into their world, Especially if they keep that music!
This show really surprised me. Rebecca Sugar is really good. I didn't realize that she was the writer of Simon and Marcy. Honestly the plot's pretty deep. Finally another worthy modern cartoon on par with Adventure Time, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Gravity Falls and Regular Show.
Spoiler Holy shit, that ketchup "blood" was pretty graphic. I can't help but notice this show's in the DC Nation timeslot -- as well as a heck of a lot of other timeslots as well. Which makes me wonder why CN is so apathetic when it comes to "serious" cartoons...
Man, I'm really digging this show. I hope it doesn't become Adventure Time-tier and get annoyingly bad.
While I like the show a lot, I have to feel a little let down by the fact that instead of something like Teen Titans, we got something closer to Teen Titans Go. It's not about the action, it's about the slivers of time between the action, with some random danger sprinkled in. I still enjoy it, but not as much as I feel I could have.
anyone still watching this? I watched the trailer in the UK which got aired recently and wasnt expecting much but after watching a few eps, I was hooked Oh, anyone wanting to hear the awesome background music in the show should check out the guys official sound cloud page here: https://soundcloud.com/aivisura My favourite background themes are The Waterfall and Opal theme among the others stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XT13ijUfSts
I do, from time to time. I'm surprised they "killed" Pearl, even if just for an episode. And gave her a new outfit, which was weird. And the whole being reborn within the gem seems to imply they bubble away all the monsters' gems so they don't regenerate. Love how video game-esque the show's music is. All I want to do Is see you turn into A giant woman!
