So let's try and make this thread a live discussion thread. Beforehand, though, report your activity on the Halloween update of Tapped Out and discuss your expectations! If anyone wants to send me friend requests on TO, I'm convoy84706! So, that said, TFW2005 members: sound off!
It doesn't air for another half hour here. Right now I am suffering through last year's god awful THoH.
You know there's a Tapped Out thread, right? http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/video-games-technology/860359-simpsons-tapped-out.html
In the TV forum? Anyways, I was not impressed with this year's episode. More of the ironic horror, not the gruesome horror i hoped for.
For a Halloween episode, I thought it lacked true horror elements. Come on, a Dr. Seuss parody for Halloween? That was even the most enjoyable sketch in the episode. The opening was definitely the best part. It was so easy to tell it was made by Guillermo del Toro, and I loved all the references to his movies and other ones.
Damn, del Toro kicked ass with that intro. It was like watching probably all of Animated with all the references and nods and jokes. Or an animated version of both AllSpark Almanacs. Bravo.
Another piece of crap THoH. The opening was the only good bit. What the **** is a Dr Seuss parody doing in this thing? It was not even remotely funny but disgusting. The Bart head on Lisa's body was pretty much just saying they have no idea what to do anymore, so they had to rip off an idea from the third season of the show. Meanwhile the carnival one made absolutely no sense at all. The only positive I can give it is at least it was better than last year's, but that isn't saying very much.
Tried watching the episode last night. Watched about half of the Dr. Seuss parody before turning back to the computer and missing the rest.
Yep, same here. The intro was the best part...followed by the Circus bit. Didn't care for the Seuss parody at all....and I like Dr. Seuss stuff.
The last segment was a pretty faithful parody of the movie Freaks. But when you parody something most people don't know, it is just confusing. I kinda liked this episode, but I agree that two headed Bart/Lisa was a lame rehash. They should stay away from doing that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C4uTEEOJlM
I saw that movie two halloweens ago. Very interesting, not so much scary, but still interesting. I liked how the strongman was the jerk, not to mention how they revealed the How I met your Mother gag at the end. (never watched the show either) I totally agree with you there. Never heard of it until I saw it was gonna air on TMC one day. The two headed Bart/Lisa sounds like an interesting concept, but it went downhill when Bart learned he could control Lisa's body when she isn't conscious. (Although Homer falling asleep and then falling down the basement stairs killed me ) Still I couldn't help but think about the end of the second Simpsons' Halloween Special when Homer finds Burns attached to his body and it took down the appeal. I think my favorite segment though would have to be the Fat in the Hat, only because it had so much shock factors that it just pops into my head, especially since it uses the Dr. Seuss' story forms. jD001
Meh, it was no better or worse in my opinion than the last 8-10 years worth of Treehouse Of Horror's. None of them have been as good as they were since the early 2000's.
Like the others, the intro was the best part by miles. All three sketches were pretty bad in their own way.
