WORLD OF WARCRAFT Movie to Begin Filming January 13th | Collider Warcraft @ San Diego Comic Con 2013 - YouTube Director seems passionate about it, could be good I guess?
Well, considering they already have a radio drama for it: WoW player scolded by parents over Ventrilo - YouTube
I hope one of the first things you see in this movie is a Worgan warrior, in full plate, riding a Mechgineer's Chopper into Stormwind with a Draenei hunter in the side car. Fuck standard fantasy, go amaze-balls, off the wall fantasy. Epic battles fought from the back of noble stallion and steam punk motorcycle alike. I'm in.
Legendary's CEO Wants WORLD OF WARCRAFT to Be a Good Video Game Adaptation "The movie has an epic scale. [The director] Duncan Jones is great. We worry about doing a good job: It's our video game movie, and the video games adaptations hasn't been very good... Besides that, the universe from World of Warcraft is gigantic, with hundreds of books, and a very deep mythology. With Duncan, we wanted someone to bring this emotion. I think that some of the things they are doing in the set, not only about the special effects, but the way that the mythology is treated, lead to another levels of concepts used, for instance, in Avatar, the amazing work from James Cameron. That way, the work from Duncan and his team has been fascinating."
WoW has a plot? I mean, sure, there's a bunch of questlines and stuff, but I honestly would much rather have a movie adaption of Warcraft III: Reign of Terror that followed the Orc Campaign up to Hellscream's Sacrifice.
I remember when the idea of a WarCraft movie seemed like a cool idea...Now I don't even want to think about it.
I have confidence in Duncan Jones to deliver another great movie. Also, I just read that Travis Fimmel from Vikings is going to be in this, and that is cool.
One of it's problems is that it has too much plot going on. The lore for that game is insanely elaborate, too. Though chances are that this will be an adaptation of the first Warcraft games with some added stuff.
No, I meant JUST the Orcs, from when they land on Kalimdor to when Thrall and Grom kill the demon guy. Of the four campaigns, it's the most compact as the humans and undead are effectively parts 1 and 2 of the same story (fall of Arthas) and the night elves are really just thrown in at the end as one of the 'new' races.
SDCC '14: WARCRAFT Footage Description And Reactions; Travis Fimmel Is Lothar? "Looks like a refined video game animatic in the best possible way." Hmm.
I am really looking forward to this even though I have never played the game. Duncan Jones is a great director, and I am interested in seeing how he handles such a big fantasy movie. I am a big fan of the Vikings TV show, and I am glad to see Travis Fimmel starring in this movie.
I'm actually hopeful for video game movies in the future. A lot of video games are taking in plot and substance recently. Which is why I'm kinda looking forward to an adaptation of the Last of Us. WoW could be interesting. Right now, Mortal Kombat still sits on the list of being one of the best video game movies made.
The writer of The Last of Us game is writing the movie, so I expect it to be great. Plus, they apparently in talks with Maisie Williams (Arya Stark from Game of Thrones) to play Ellie; which is a perfect pick in my opinion. Assassin's Creed might be great, and I have faith in the Uncharted movie. In my opinion the best video game movie so far is Need For Speed. I think critics were way too hard on it. It wasn't great in terms of story, but it was a fantastic racing movie with some great cinematography and sound design as well as some of the best car chases I have ever seen. It was a great movie for its genre, and set itself apart from Fast and Furious.

BlizzCon WARCRAFT Movie Panel Recap “Storytelling-wise, we know what the film is. We’re there now. We have so many special effects, it’s outrageous. It’s Avatar and The Lord of the Rings at the same time. It’s a big, big, big film. It’s just going to take a while. … I’m sorry, I wish it was sooner.“
